DEVELOPMENT T T to page 58 Bloxam, Burnett & Olliver (BBO) has recently opened a new office in Tauranga. Located in Durham Street, the office was opened in September 2020 on the back of a number of significant projects in the region that the company is involved in. “Until now we have been servicing these projects from our head office in Hamilton,” says BBO planning project manager Chris Dawson. “By having a dedicated office in Tauranga we will have staff on the ground making things much easier for our clients,” BBO senior planner Kathryn Drew is the new regional manager of the Tauranga office leading the team of around 10 staff. Chris says BBO is hoping to expand its team there to meet growing customer demand. One of the projects in the Bay of Plenty region the company has been heavily involved in is the Takitimu North Link (TNL) for Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency. TNL will connect Tauranga and Ōmokoroa with a new 14 kilometre four-lane corridor between State Highway 29 Takitimu Drive Toll Road and State Highway 2 Ōmokoroa intersection easing congestion and significantly improving safety. BBO has secured all of the resource consents for the first 7km of the project and is now engaged by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency to manage the contractor to ensure specifications and deadlines are met for the construction phase. BBO is currently preparing a specimen design for the second stage of the project from Te Puna to Omokoroa and will be seeking all statutory approvals later this year. “This project shows BBO is small enough to have a personal touch but has the experience “This project shows BBO is small enough to have a personal touch but has the experience to take on very significant projects for the Bay of Plenty. It was completed under budget and ahead of schedule and has won numerous awards including the 2015 Resource Management Law Association (RMLA) Project Award for strong stakeholder collaboration and innovation.
