But it is much, much more than that. Situated at the end of a long private lane on an acre of land, this home is one of Greytown’s finest. Constructed in villa style, the home has all of the charm and character of Greytown’s first colonial villas built in the 1800s, with all the mod cons and high performance features you would expect in a brand new home. “It looks like it’s been there forever, just with a fresh coat of paint,” says Kieran Gleeson of KB Gleeson Building. Kieran was engaged by the owners prior to them purchasing their section. At the time they were based in Wellington, and they wanted the input of a local builder. Kieran says the site is an ideal place to be, an acre of land backing on to a rural setting and still walking distance to Greytown’s bustling main street, replete with its boutique cafes, restaurants, and shops that Wellingtonians will travel miles to visit in the weekends. Settled on their section, the design of the home took about a year with Wellington’s Moore Architecture, then a further 11 months for the KB Gleeson Building team to build. The 355sqm single-level house has many architectural features, including special lighting, extensive marble tiling, oak flooring, and detailing. The owners have future proofed their home with four bedrooms, three large bathrooms, and a separate toilet, so given the scale of their property, the home will always be able to accommodate a large family, and easily entertain guests. The entrance to the home is a grand country house foyer, opening to a hallway which runs the entire length of the house through to the back door in the living, kitchen, and dining area.
