BUILDING Haimes Building has been winning awards at the House of the Year competition since it first entered in 1997. Over the years the Taupo-based firm has won a plethora of awards but a significant milestone was being named the National Supreme Winner in 2020. The award is the pinnacle of the year’s national event and there are only two handed out - one for a new build and one for a renovation project. The home that Haimes Building won the award for was the renovation of a 1970s home at Lake Taupō. Mark says projects that involve a design blending the old and new are always challenging but the result speaks for itself. The 500sqm home boasts four bedrooms and four bathrooms with several outdoor living spaces to choose from and a central enclosed courtyard connecting to the interior kitchen and living spaces. The fact that a geothermal spring was drilled on site to create a comfortable temperature throughout the home and to heat the swimming pool and spa demonstrates the complexities of the project. Distinctive features include a lush living wall and his-and-hers alfresco baths. Aside from a large number of prestigious gold awards, other standout awards Haimes Building has won over the years include a Sapphire Award, which recognises outstanding achievement in building excellence and is awarded to companies that win three or more Regional Supreme titles, and a Platinum Award, awarded to companies who win more than five times at the national competition. “The Registered Master Builders House of the Year awards celebrate the very best in residential building, standing for excellence in residential construction. “They are recognised as a symbol of quality for those looking to build or renovate and are highly revered by both the industry and consumers. “It’s really hard to win at the awards because competition is really tight so we’re very proud of what we have achieved over the years. “It’s about putting in that extra attention to detail and we’re very focused on achieving the best outcome for the client and delivering a product they are really happy with,” says Mark. He is proud that the Haimes name has been associated with building in Taupō for over 40 years. “It’s about putting in that extra attention to detail and we’re very focused on achieving the best outcome for the client and delivering a product they are really happy with.” • Over 20 years experience • Specialising in architectural homes, negative detail and EzyJamb systems • Grade 5 Finish • Square stop and cove With 20 years experience in both architectural, residential and commercial properties, we can offer you a high standard of quality workmanship, guaranteed professionalism and commitment to meet every deadline on time.
