BUILDING Palmerston North-based Presidential Homes has successfully delivered a new sports pavilion for Greytown, completing the significant community project in just four months through innovative prefabrication methods. The Greytown Pavilion at Soldiers Memorial Park, designed to cater for growth in the district’s sports community, was constructed as three separate modules at Presidential Homes’ new, purpose-built factory before being transported to site and connected together. The project, which went to open tender, involved demolishing the existing structure that had become inadequate for the community’s needs due to its size and inability to accommodate different genders in changing room facilities. The new, 442sqm complex now offers more changing rooms, shower facilities, a large clubroom area, storage rooms for clubs, and an outdoor decking area. Emily McEldowney, manager of Presidential Homes, says the company’s approach to the project highlights the growing importance of prefabrication, which led to Presidential Homes investing in a purpose-built factory in Palmerston North, completed late last year. The 9000sqm facility allows Presidential Homes to build 30 to 35 homes simultaneously under cover, as well as several display homes, ranging from 90 to 180sqm in size. “The new premises have enabled us to take on a large project like Greytown Pavilion and undertake it all under cover,” explains Emily. “The factory’s single-span design allows for easy movement of structures in and out of the building, increasing productivity while protecting construction from weather delays.” This controlled environment approach is part of what makes Presidential Homes’ business model attractive to clients. The company offers fixed-price contracts with no surprises and a simple payment schedule, providing cost certainty in an industry often plagued by budget overruns, says Emily. Founded on over 30 years of experience, Presidential Homes has been building high-quality structures for more than a decade throughout the lower North Island. While residential homes remain its core business, the successful completion of the Greytown Pavilion demonstrates its versatility in handling community projects, says Emily. The company has also previously constructed office buildings and 240-bed accommodation facilities for RSE workers in Hawke’s Bay. For residential clients, Presidential Homes offers a streamlined process that delivers new homes in approximately 12 weeks. Customers can choose between pre-designed plans or custom designs, with the company handling all consents and providing professional project management. Emily says this approach makes home ownership more accessible by simplifying the building process and offering greater control over costs and time frames. A point of difference is that Presidential Homes can also build transportable homes with internal-access double garages, says Emily. “We blend architectural design with quality materials and exceptional craftsmanship to create prefabricated homes designed for practical, comfortable living. Our prefabricated homes are proof that design flexibility and affordability can go hand in hand. Our customers receive a beautiful, brand-new build at a fixed price, with no hidden costs. We simplify the building process, with professional project management and recommended local suppliers to create spaces our customers can be proud to call home.” According to Emily, at Presidential Homes the focus is always firmly on the client: “We don’t just build a home; we build a relationship. Our experienced team guides each client through the process, taking the overwhelm out of planning and decision making, and keeps them updated as their build progresses. It’s about giving guidance and support every step of the way. We are proud to be locally owned and operated with a friendly, experienced team who work alongside our clients and talented builders and tradespeople who bring their vision to life.” Presidential Homes offers a 10-year guarantee, minimal deposit, no progress payments (balance paid at the end of the build) and takes care of all consents. Emily invites people interested in building a new home to call and arrange a time to visit the new factory show home for an initial consultation. “With homes ready to go, people can get a good feel for the quality of our builds and the options available. We know all the right questions to ask to understand what they want and need out of their new home.”
