In order to achieve the high standard of work produced, Eric Wiig Ltd places great value on its sta . “Recruitment can be challenging given the specialist nature of our work, but we invest in in-house training to mentor new talent and support developing career pathways.” Matt says. “We carry sta levels of approximately 50 on the tools, with another half a dozen in the o ice. We have six apprentices studying at the moment, four of which are female, each showing great promise.” This commitment to training and quality has underpinned Eric Wiig Ltd’s ability to win many signi icant contracts. As a subcontractor to MCL for the Customs Quay Ahuriri apartment and commercial development, Eric Wiig Ltd was involved in the project from the very start. “This was approximately a three year project for us. We were on-site at the very beginning, installing the underground waterproo ing right through until the inal coat of paint.” Eric Wiig Ltd’s work comprised several specialised processes: below grade tanking/waterproo ing, sand and cement screeds, torch-on membranes, loor coatings, hot-applied bitumen-based waterproo ing, protective coatings, as well as conventional painting. “This was a signi icant project for us and it was great to be involved with another longstanding business such as MCL. We work with MCL often and like to support Hawkes Bay contractors working on Hawkes Bay projects”. During the past ive years, Eric Wiig Ltd has won more than a dozen Master Painters awards.
