With material costs continuing to rise there is no time like the present to build, says Alix Brew from Latitude Homes Wellington. “People might sit back thinking land prices will fall but even if that happens it’s probably going to more than be offset by material costs rising. That means the longer people wait the more building a new home could cost,” he says noting Latitude Homes Wellington has a select number of house and land packages on offer in Lower Hutt and Otaki. Latitude Homes has been busy building new homes in the Wellington region to meet demand since Alix and wife Amanda sett up the franchise in 2014. Alix, who hails from the Isle of Man, had previously built there before arriving in New Zealand over two decades ago. Amanda comes from a banking background bringing expertise in the important financial aspects of the business. Customers generally come with their own land and building with Latitude Homes Wellington is an incredibly personal experience, he says. “Our customers are never just a number to us. They deal directly with us, which means a more personal building experience as well as quicker answers to their questions,” he says. “We get a real kick out of providing clients with their dream home, built as quickly as possible, on budget and to a high standard. The good thing about Latitude Homes is that it is like a big family and that feeling extends to how we interact with our clients because we believe that it’s very important to treat people how we ourselves want to be treated. The principal belief of the founders of Latitude Homes, Marc and Kelly Hunter, is that everybody should be able to afford their own home. Our purpose, as part of the same family, is to help people gain security through home ownership,” he explains. The symbol for Latitude Homes is a compass – chosen to represent Latitude Homes’ core values – respect and trustworthiness. Alix says he sees his role as setting the correct course and providing direction during the process of helping others achieve their dream of building their own home.
