| 17 Gisborne: Cedenco REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Gisborne company Industrial Maintenance Solutions (IMS) aims to create win-wins for its business and the region. “Our goal to o er an e icient professional service focusing on plant e iciency, which enables our customers to grow their businesses, which in turn enables IMS to grow and the low on e ect is that the region grows,” explains company owner Jo Bennett. Jo started IMS in 2005 with husband Carl, a quali ied electrician, and a business partner. In 2009 Jo and Carl bought the business outright then Jo took the lead in 2017 when Carl sadly passed away. She says IMS has always aimed to o er a one-stop-shop industrial plant maintenance service catering to a diverse client base – a necessity in a region like Gisborne where many businesses are seasonally based. Customers include food, wine, quarries, fertiliser and packhouse operations. Jo says IMS has built a strong reputation through quality workmanship, knowledge, and service to provide leading industries with a high level of support. Services are broken into divisions. Industrial plant maintenance covers mechanical, electrical and fabrication. The industrial mechanical services involve process machinery maintenance, laser alignment services, design and build services, plant relocation and installation. Industrial electrical services include PLC design and programming, plant maintenance, new builds, thermal imaging, design and test and tag. The team’s fabrication skills see it work on design and build projects, repairs, IMS – thewinning formula specialist welding jobs, manufacturing, custom builds and plant relocation and installation utilising technology such as CAD where appropriate. The IMS conveyors and belting services includes design and build, splicing and welding of belts, heavy duty belting, light weight belting, rollers and idlers, belt cleaners, rubber lining and drum lagging. IMS o ers a leet of vehicles set up to complete work on site and a 24/7 emergency service. Jo says IMS has a great team of 17 sta with a multitude of skills. Apprentices are an important part of the operation and also demonstrate the company’s focus on win-wins. “We bring new people into the industry, which bene its IMS and also creates new opportunities for career pathways.” Some clients, such as Cedenco, have been with the company since the outset. The connections between the two companies are strong. IMS has completed many jobs over the years including the relocation of an existing IQF freezing plant from Hawkes Bay to the main Cedenco factory in Gisborne. This involved decommissioning of the existing switchboard and control panel and upgrading for installation. The Sabroe compressor was overhauled along with the liquid pump, new and existing pipework to the freezer tunnel, and a complete overhaul of the tunnel itself. “They are a valued customer and are great for the industry in Gisborne. They have been a big part of our company and we have helped them through with our services, we’re very grateful for their on-going support” Cedenco will continue its history of innovation and is testing several additional products to find the next best thing in food ingredients.
