We listen to what you need and how you want it to feel. Then we come up with practical solutions, find the right materials, all to achieve the functionality and look of your new dream kitchen. You know the one... the place that families converge for great food and to make memories. 06 843 7319 | www.edk.co.nz | info@edk.co.nz It will never be cheaper to build a house so now is the perfect time to build that dream home, says Deb Middleton from Latitude Homes Hawke’s Bay. Deb is proud to be celebrating 15 years of Latitude Homes this year. With Marc and Kelly Hunter starting Latitude Homes in 2007, Deb joined as one of the first franchisees in 2010. She describes her journey as a “rollercoaster” as she’s navigated the franchise through economic changes and personal challenges. Deb and husband Brian opened Latitude Homes Hawke’s Bay to complement the Totalspan franchise they had at the time. They were building sheds on lifestyle blocks and business was booming and they were getting enquires from people who wanted to build homes. The Global Financial Crisis struck soon after and enquiry dropped off and building businesses across the country rode this out or failed. Latitude Homes rode it out. In 2014 Brian sadly passed away from cancer leaving Deb to run the business on her own. She admits it was incredibly challenging but the backup and support of Latitude Homes helped see her through. “It was certainly hard at the beginning to be taken seriously in a largely male dominated industry but Latitude Homes and my subcontractors were great. “Now in Hawke’s Bay there have been other building companies run by women and we have women builders, plumbers, electricians etc. Things have changed,” she says.
