As a family owned company with a small tight knit team we are able to work together seamlessly. Essentially we are a highly skilled management team, and utilise a trusted contractor workforce that we have established strong relationships with to undertake the physical work.” Wellington based, Ironhorse Construction undertakes projects throughout the greater Wellington region, including Kapiti Coast and Wairarapa. “Our core customer base includes regional property investors, developers, hospitality groups and commercial o ice tenants including Cornerstone Partners, Quest Hotel, Yugroup, Astoria, Luna Estate, and Solari Architects, among others. We’re a niche main contractor, with a core focus on seismic strengthening and the redevelopment of existing buildings, and up-market hospitality and o ice itouts. We also become involved in the development of mid-density mixed use buildings.” Ironhorse Construction’s irst project was the Seaborne residential development, where the company worked with the property developer right from the design and consenting phase. “Becoming involved in the project at an early stage enabled us to look through the detailing and make recommendations that resulted in cost savings for the client, and expedite the programme.” Located in the heart of Petone residential area, the Seaborne project involved the demolition of an existing industrial building, and the redeveloped of the site with thirty-two NZIA award winning architectural townhouses contained over seven buildings. While the buildings all have similar inishes each has a unique design. “With the Seaborne development we utilised a commercial approach to a typically residential type project, working closely with Herriot Melhuish O’Neil Architects, Spencer Holmes Engineering and our subcontractors. Our preference is to become involved in the project during the design phase so that we can add value to construction methodology. As a solutions based company developing close working relationships enables us to o er solutions when project challenges arise to achieve a shared goal.” Experience and diversity Our collaborative team approach with clients, consultants and subcontractors as well as our growing reputation for producing high quality builds is evidenced through our high proportion of negotiated projects for repeat clients.
