BUILDING “We have a strong reputation for high standards of workmanship.” Morris & Bailey Ltd separates itself from other construction companies by being an award winning company specialising in civil construction, commercial construction and new homes in regions such as Dannevirke, Tararua, Palmerston North, Central Hawkes Bay and beyond. While Morris & Bailey was established in Dannevirke in 1969, its roots go to 1955 when it was known as Morris & Longman Ltd and based in Woodville. The first couple of major contracts for Morris & Bailey Ltd was the construction of a new factory for New Zealand Woolspinners in Dannevirke along with the construction of a new lamb and sheep processing plant at Oringi. “These were very successful projects for the company and established Morris & Bailey as a reputable company within the building industry throughout the region,” says Co-owner and company General Manager Daniel Pinfold, who has been with the company for 25 years.. “In 1988 the Woodville company ceased trading, at which point a couple of younger partners joined the Dannevirke company, bringing with them the experience and knowledge of bridge building. From that point onwards we have maintained a permanent involvement in this sector of the industry, completing many State Highway bridges, culverts, farm bridges and general maintenance of bridge structures throughout the Tararua District. All our bridges are delivered fully compliant and designed to meet the needs of our clients both now and into the future.” Morris & Bailey’s many local commercial construction projects include the Community Hospital, Farmlands, The Warehouse, and Dannevirke Vet Services. “More recently we have been involved with numerous seismic strengthening projects, local council projects, Ministry of Education projects, multiple windfarm projects and residential projects,” says Daniel. “While our typical geographic reach is the larger Tararua area, we have also undertaken many projects further afield, such as Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, Taranaki, and Wellington.” As home builders Morris & Bailey recognise that each project and client is different and has experience in building a variety of types and sizes from new homes in built up locations to homes on rural properties. Along with General Management responsibilities, Daniel is also a qualified carpenter and LBP and overseas all residential and commercial construction projects. The management team includes co-owners Luke Ransom, who has been with the company for 19 years and qualified in both carpentry and civil construction, and Tony Clark who has been with the company for 19 years and a qualified carpenter and LBP. “Luke is Contracts Manager for the civil and concrete construction and Tony is our main site supervisor for residential and commercial projects. We are supported by ten onsite staff members whose experience range from qualified carpenters and concrete construction through to first year apprentices and everything in-between. All of our staff are local and most have strong family ties to the area. Our staff are key to each project we undertake and a successful business is only as good as its employees.” With an enviable company history spanning seven decades, Daniel says the relationships forged over many years from the efforts of successive management, and which are still in place to this day have been the key to Morris & Bailey’s longevity. “Those client relationships have provided repeat work and referrals to potential clients. Our philosophy is to work collaboratively with clients to achieve a successful result. Having a strong and healthy relationship with local trades and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, reliability and expertise to deliver successful projects has also been key. We have a strong reputation for high standards of workmanship and developing sound solutions for clients. We’re proud that many projects we have worked on have gone on to gain recognition, winning industry awards.” BERNIE WALSH ALUMINIUM, 11 MILLER ST, DANNEVIRKE.
