BUILDING Warner Construction Taranaki Diversifying into new renewable energy systems and investing in technology are the key drivers of engineering construction company Warner Construction, supported by new buildings at its bases in Waitara, Taranaki, and Rotokawa in Taupo. Warner Construction specialises in building high-pressure steel pipelines, pressure vessels, mechanical pipe fitting and fabrication, civil and structural engineering and transport and logistics. “We have a strong existing client pool who continue to engage us to work with them on projects of all shapes and sizes,” says Managing Director Adam Warner, son of company founder Alan Warner who these days spends most of his time overseeing major geothermal work in the Taupo area. “Our existing clients continue to supply us with a good pipeline of current and future works but, that said, we have identified a requirement to continue to look for new and emerging opportunities – hence our plans to offer new services to the market, and invest in new technologies,” Adam says. “We’re planning to offer new services such as pipe processing for clients in the energy and structural steel sectors with our new HGG SPC 1200 pipe-cutting machine. “This will supplement our other recent investments, such as our Plazmax profile plate-cutting machine which enables us to be a key one-stop-shop for anyone requiring metal processing.” Warner Construction is a substantial business with more than 150 full-time workshop and site employees offering a range of services that include specialist welding, sheet-metal work, stainless steel and aluminium fabrication, blasting and painting, transport and Hiab services, soil testing and plant and equipment hire. “All of this makes us a true industry all-rounder with significant in-house expertise to deliver projects with little requirement for third parties,” Adam says. The company owns more than 50,000m2 of workshops across five sites, all equipped with five- and ten-tonne overhead cranes. Warner Construction recently opened a new 1000m2 engineering workshop in Taranaki’s Bell Block featuring a 10t gantry and an HGG pipe-profiling machine, supported by 380m2 of office space – this in addition to the existing 400m2 workshop there. The company has been involved in major projects with such leading infrastructure brands as Contact Energy, Todd Energy, Nova, Balance Agri-Nutrients, Fletcher Construction and Methanex throughout the North Island. Most recently it has completed multi-million-dollar projects at both the Tauhara and Te Mihi Geothermal power stations for Contact Energy. Established in 1985 in Waitara servicing Taranaki’s petrochemical industry, Warner Construction was drawn to Taupo by the need of the geo-thermal developments there or high-quality and often complex engineering solutions. A strategy of tendering, winning and managing complex multi-discipline contracts has developed a multi-skilled workforce delivering mechanical and civil engineering projects, instrument and electrical work, insulation, painting and building services. “Our facilities allow us to offer comprehensive services in all facets of engineering, complemented by our in-house transport division that allows us to have complete control over all logistics,” Adam says. Away from the industry Warner Construction has a powerful history of community involvement headlined by its sponsorship of Taranaki Rugby’s Yarrow Bulls team. 0800 000 144 • www.duroweld.co.nz Proud to be supplying Warner Construction Taranaki with all their Welding requirements. • Welding Machines • Consumables • Gas Gear & Accessories NZ’s Cutting and welding specialists, we’ve got you covered.
