That’s complemented with the wrap-around capability that you traditionally associate with Fulton Hogan including an established maintenance business, pavement construction, 3 waters – water reticulation and drain laying, traffic management, and surfacing.” REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Based in New Plymouth, with satellite depots in Stratford and Hawera, Fulton Hogan operates across the entire Taranaki region from Mokau in the north, to Waitotara Valley in the south. “We’re now delivering major capital works projects for New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA); New Plymouth, Stratford; and South Taranaki District Councils; Port Taranaki; New Plymouth Airport; Todd Energy and other oil & gas entities; Fonterra; and other regional industry. We have three of the five road maintenance contracts in the Taranaki Region; one in Stratford and two in South Taranaki. Excluding the Mt Messenger tunnel, our team is currently building the only major State Highway improvement in the region — the Te Ara Tūtohu - Waitara to New Plymouth road, for NZTA. That’s a safety improvement programme, that includes four new roundabouts and additional safety infrastructure including guardrails and wire rope median barriers.” The Taranaki team recently re-paved the New Plymouth Airport, which Rob says was supported by Fulton Hogan resource from Canterbury, Wellington, Manawatu, Taranaki, Waikato and Auckland. “There were 50 – 60 staff from out of town working here for three months, and all the money to house and accommodate that team flowed through into the local economy.” While the majority of projects are within the regional boundary, Rob adds that when the opportunity arises a wide range of projects are undertaken outside of the regional pencil line, and recent projects have been undertaken in Wellington, Whanganui, Wairarapa, and Waitomo. Rob acknowledges the importance and value of the people capability in respect to the business’s ongoing success, with 120 staff across the three depots. “Our people are genuine and authentic, focused on quality and being the best at what we do, and I believe the envy of other contractors in Taranaki.” The diverse skill sets include machine operators, drainlayers, water technicians, concrete placers, truck drivers, grader specialists with GPS machine control, network inspectors, complemented with office based engineering capability and project/contract managers. “There are many opportunities for diversity and progression with significant training Trusted Partner to Fulton Hogan Taranaki www.professionalexcavation.co.nz 0800 PRO EXCAVATE (0800 776 392) Civil Construction Excavation Utilities Surfacing TEN YEARS SHAPING COMMUNITIES 9001, 45001, 14001
