Developer Mark Madams, who has been buying property in Porirua for the past 30 years, has led a number of industrial developments, including the revitalisation of Cobb n Co’s restaurant, office space and childcare areas. He said before the market had warehousing, there was an absolute shortage of industrial and light commercial units available, especially for smaller ‘start-up’ businesses, “but there has been no space in Porirua to do that since we purchased the land to develop The Works.” The Works Elsdon with its 86 units ranging from 20sqm to 200sqm on a 1.2ha site has filled that gap, creating a hub and a place for business networking.
