It is working closely with Kapiti Coast District Council and the Food and Beverage Cluster on this aspect of the project. There are already an eclectic mix of businesses currently operating from Lindale Village including a large t shirt printing companies called Print Mighty, a motorcycle workshop, a book store, florist, construction planning company Infill (planners also for the Lindale Residential units development) and Mills Albert, which has established its Mills Albert Pathways to deliver, a programme of qualification-aligned training for young people, from the village. “The aim is to re-establish the artisan village environment,” says Mark who sees huge potential. “The current buildings have a traditional feel and we will enhance this. There is already a Hungarian restaurant and caterers that also import cheeses and wine while making cured meats onsite. There will be a craft beer pub and delicatessen.” A three bedroom boutique hotel will add to the mix and Mark says some of the new residential properties may become Airbnbs enabling people to stay and explore the area, heading over to Kapiti Island and enjoying a nice meal. Another possibility being explored are golf simulators adding an additional recreational activity to the mix. Mark says other large housing developments are also happening nearby, with one around a wetlands reserve delivering a significant number of stand alone house to the region. He predicts there are around 200300 dwellings in the planning stages in this Lindale area. With the high quality townhouses Lindale Residential is building it will be like “nothing ever seen before in the Kapiti Coast,” says Mark. “Lindale Village will become a real destination.
