Eastbridge has just completed work for the Peacocke Bridge over the Waikato River, a project that is a key part of a wider transport network planned for the Peacocke neighbourhood in Hamilton. This has seen Eastbridge manufacture the architectural hand railing and shrouds for HEB Construction involving over 2000 tonnes of large box girders. Some of the parts transported to site were 110 tonnes and installed on site with a 600 tonne crane by the contractors and Eastbridge invested in equipment such as larger cranes specifically for the project. Eastbridge general manager Jayden Mellsop says the main challenge of the project was around volume and scale. “The box girders are at the upper end of the fabrication sizes we can manufacture and transport in New Zealand. Aside from the difficulties of constructing items of this size there are also a limited amount of heavy haulage companies that could transport them and this was a combined effort by Tranzcarr and local company BR Satherley Transport.” Eastbridge maintained the production line producing the large volume of items over 18-24 months, including through the Covid lockdowns and restrictions. Jayden says it showcased the skills and dedication of the Eastbridge team and saw the project delivered on time and on budget. “It’s all quite impressive now we can see it all come together on the site. Our staff showed good resilience and patience over a long production period drawn out by Covid. Eastbridge Ltd: New Bridge Projects INFRASTRUCTURE
