Powerco has invested heavily to strengthen their North island electricity network over recent years. Growing alongside them, Tauranga-based Electrical Inspec- tion Services (EIS) has evolved into a major works contractor in the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel, Hauraki, and South Waikato areas. Electrical inspections, revenue metering and connecting homes to the electricity network were a core focus for EIS in its early years. Founded by Chris Higgins in 2008, business growth has accelerated over the past ive years as EIS has expanded into the major works market on the Powerco network. “We started o completing electrical inspections and metering, moving on to installing the stand- ard low voltage green power boxes you see outside houses which built our reputation as a safe, trusted and reliable operator. We worked with Powerco to move into major works in 2016 and have developed competent sta and robust systems and processes to provide a compet- itive option for the major works we are involved with today. “As a Powerco authorised contractor, we now regularly work on the high voltage (11,000 volt) network putting in transformers, switches and other electrical components,” says Chris. “As well, we install reticulation for subdivi- sions and commercial properties and complete project works for Powerco regularly. We’ve taken on more sta and today employ a hardworking team of 20.” Alongside the fully quali ied electrical inspection sta , EIS has dedicated and competent electrical itters, cable jointers and line mechanics, as well as supporting progression in the electrical industry by training apprentices on their team. “We really value our sta and the hard work they put in every day, and make sure we maintain a positive sta culture. This culture shows in our high sta retention rate and is something our custom- ers notice and appreciate.” EIS work with electricians, developers, surveyors and private customers, taking an individual approach to each job by looking at risks and opportunities, creating a plan to meet all requirements and working closely with customers to ensure the best outcome for the best price.
