From its headquarters in Ōtaki, Pritchard Civil has provided earthworks, roading, trenching, carparks, footpaths, drain mainte - nance, lake construction, site works for large construction projects, landscaping, and topsoil screening and supply services for the past 30 years. Now in the ownership of brothers John and Sam Pritchard, Pritchard Civil is focusing on efficiencies and the well-being of its staff. “We grew up working in the business when we were young, and we are grateful and proud of the foundations that have been laid to date,” John says. “We are also conscious of the need to innovate and evolve to sustain long-term success. Therefore, we try to incor - porate a combination of hard earned knowl - edge and progressive mindset into everything we do.” John and Sam have a vision for growing Pritchard Civil through diversification and utilising technology, while maintaining a focus on family values, efficiency, and quality, and making a positive contribution to the commu - nity. Pritchard Civil has been investing in new machines and new technology, including new trucks, new diggers, drone surveying, and GPS machine control on several machines. “We’re trying to upgrade over and above T T Kelly Deeks the standard stuff. It’s something we see as a means to grow. We have a foundation that has been formed over the past 30 years that we can base our business on, and some hard earned experience in this group of people which we respect and appreciate. We have our eyes forward as to how we can build on that foundation instead of just doing the same old thing.” Pritchard Civil installed its first Topcon GPS machine control in 2018 and now has it in - stalled in six machines, bringing precision and accuracy as well as efficiency to civil construc - tion projects. Over the years, Pritchard Civil has built more than 1000 sections around the Kāpiti Coast and beyond. “Greenfields land development has become an area that we have particularly strong expertise and experience. We take pride in building facilities and infrastructure that will be positive places to live, work and play for many years to come.” The site works at Kāpiti airport redevel - opment for Mitre 10 Mega, New World, and Placemakers kept the firm busy for several years. Now under development is stage two of the new 200 lot subdivision Manu Park in Waikanae, and site works for several new buildings and a carpark at Ōtaki tertiary ed - ucation provider Te Wānanga o Raukawa are set to begin soon. “This is a great local project for us to be involved in, right on our back door step, with a great community feel.” We feel fortunate to be based in a region that provides outstanding lifestyle and busi - ness opportunities on our door step. The Kapiti Coast is going through a strong growth phase at the moment. The large roading projects and busy property market is generating plenty of work for the civil con - struction sector. We are optimistic about the long-term growth prospects of the region and are excited to be a part of it.
