| 47 Wellington Gold Awards: Taylor Preston REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT The company processes about 650,000 lambs a year. While thousands of Wellington commuters drive past Taylor Preston’s Ngauranga Gorge meat processing facility every day, many of them will not appreciate the major role the company plays in the success of the region’s economy. Taylor Preston is one of New Zealand’s largest locally owned meat processors, but by its CEO’s own admission, the company largely lies under the radar and does not typically seek the limelight. One of Wellington’s largest employers, in recent years Taylor Preston has grown through strong export sales in numerous international markets. As a key part of New Zealand’s red meat export sector, it was no surprise to ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited (ANZ) when the company was nominated as a inalist in this year’s Wellington Gold Awards. A sponsor of the Global Gold Award, which recognises success among the region’s exporters, ANZ believes it is critical to recognise and celebrate the success of the business community and the contributions it makes to the regional economy. “The Gold Awards do this by highlighting and promoting a wide range of top quality businesses operating across the region, and by creating a fantastic opportunity for businesses to come together and tell their stories,” says Richard Lo hagen, ANZ’s Director, Helping communities to thrive Institutional Banking. “ANZ has deep roots in the primary sector in New Zealand, and is well known as a leading trade inance bank supporting the country’s export businesses.” ANZ supports Taylor Preston with a range of services, from funding for its seasonal working capital needs, to supporting the company’s export sales with trade inance services. “We also provide the company with access to inancial derivatives to enable it to manage its foreign exchange risks. ANZ believes banking is about more than money; irst and foremost it is about building relationships that create value.” Richard says if the bank’s aim is to shape a world where people and communities thrive, ANZ must combine the energy and commitment of its people with the power of technology and data to deliver innovative and convenient services that make a di erence for its customers and the communities in which it operate. “Our strategy is to improve the inancial wellbeing and sustainability of customers through excellent services, tools and insights that engage them and help them succeed. That’s why ANZ is proud to support Taylor Preston, and is delighted to see a key Institutional Banking customer recognised in this way. We extend our congratulations to Simon Gatenby and his dedicated team, and wish the company future success.”
