One of its current projects is the proudest yet for owner Graeme Rush and the senior team due to the employment opportunities and pathways it has created in Ōpōtiki. NZTA’s SH2 Wainui Road to Ōpōtiki project has so far resulted in new full-time employ- ment at Splice Construction for 25 local peo- ple, all part of this employ local vision. “In order to fulfil our commitment to hiring local, we consult with and value the guidance of local leaders,” Grant says. “This project is an evolving success story, and we are extremely proud of the work being done by our local crew and very humbled by the support of the people of the East Coast.” Splice Construction is set to work on further projects in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and with continued collaboration with local iwi leaders and the community, more openings for local people to upskill and gain long-term employ- ment are expected. Splice Construction values community and its efforts to support it go beyond creating employment for locals. “We’re committed to giving back and spreading a positive culture in the communi- ties where we work,” Grant says. “We support both youth development and professional sport, as we see each of these as inspirational and instrumental to commu- nity spirit, and we also give to charities that support families in need – because that’s a community service we all may need one day.” As Splice Construction continues to grow, the firm has recently moved into its brand new, purpose built HQ at Titanium Park, Ham- ilton Airport. Splice Construction completed its own earthworks and drainage on the new site, while construction was completed by Hamil- ton’s Foster Construction. The two-storey building houses open plan offices on the first floor, with reception, staff room, and meeting rooms on the ground floor. Outside is a sizable yard and three bay workshop, truck wash down facilities and a staff break out area.
