92 | BUILDING House of the Year 2021: JCC Build Stone studded stunner wins big Hamilton’s JCC Build won the Regional Supreme Renovation Award for this stunning renovation. T he team at Hamilton’s JCC Build are justifiably proud of their latest achieve- ment, winning multiple awards at House of the Year. Taking home the Regional Supreme Reno- vation Award for a stunning transformation of a formerly tired home, the JCC Build team ap- plied all of its skill and craftsmanship to every inch of the home. From the exterior where dark grey vertical Stria panels are offset with white plaster and trim and riverstone accents, to the exposed trusses is the living area which were manufactured on-site, to the outdoor pool, decking, and portico, the bespoke and high spec detailing of this home came togeth- er as a true collaboration between the builder, the subtrades, the designer, and the owners. JCC Build business manager Murray Bu- chanan says the homeowners were very much involved in their project, and the accompany- ing Regional Lifestyle Interior Design award can be attributed to their fabulous eye for detail and interior design. “Our guys worked with them to put it together and achieve a very high standard of finish,” Murray says. JCC Build foreman Deryk Print says the highly bespoke nature of the project required long discussions between the client, JCC Build managing director Will Johnston, and Deryk as to how to best achieve the required result both structurally and aesthetically. “It is quite amazing to see the finished result of these plans,” Deryk says. “There was a lot of interpretation and a lot of time spent coming up with solutions.” One of the most enjoyable but also chal- lenging aspects of the build for the construc- tion team was the exposed trusses through the open kitchen, dining, and living area. “We manufactured these on-site, and it was highly detailed work. T Kelly Deeks They are one of the home’s stand-out features so to achieve a successful result with these was a very satisfying part of the project.” Murray says JCC Build has a clear vision for its future and the win at the Registered Master Builders House of the Year 2021 is encourag- ing for everyone involved. “For JCC Build to be recognised alongside our peers in the industry is the result of every- one in the team putting in the hard work. Construction is a challenging industry and it is really rewarding for the guys involved to be able to step back at the end of the project and appreciate the high standard they achieved.” JCC’s success and growth has created many opportunities for career progression within the company, and retention of quality staff.
