R angitahi Peninsula is one of New Zea- land’s true beauty spots, a place of soft green hills fringed by sparkling Raglan harbour. A well-planned sustainable new neighbour- hood is now taking root in these hills, offering beauty and simplicity for those wanting to be a part of Raglan’s famed laidback way of life and tranquil coastal environment. Excited to be contributing to the future of Rangitahi is architectural graduate Georgia Peacocke, of Hamilton-based practice Edwards White Architects. Her first full project with Edwards White, now nearing completion, is a home she designed for herself and family at Rangitahi. With construction now in its final phase, Georgia is looking forward to stepping inside the finished home this Christmas. This part of the world holds special meaning for Georgia’s family, who have been farming in Raglan for more than 30 years. Georgia’s father and uncle spent many years planning how to share the land with oth- ers to enjoy, with the dream now taking shape on the slopes of Rangitahi. Georgia has embraced the learning journey that has come from designing a small bach here, on the old family farm. On the eastern side of the peninsula, the section she chose is well-sited for sun and sweeping views to east, and west over Mount Karioi. Her design makes the most of both sun and views. Beautifully tied into the landscape, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is made for informal living and uses natural T T to page 100 materials and a colour palette in synch with the surrounds. The L-shaped design cradles a sunny sheltered courtyard. “My two sisters and I went into this togeth- er; we thought it could be a beach house for all our families to come to and use into the future. While this is a small home [150sqm], it has everything we need to enjoy that con - nection with nature and Raglan’s laidback lifestyle.” Support from the Edwards White team has proved enormously helpful for Georgia. “We’re constantly bounding ideas off each other - I couldn’t have done this without them!” “My two sisters and I went into this together; we thought it could be a beach house for all our families to come to and use into the future.” Hartley Tiling are proud to work alongside Edwards White Architects 0800 558 453 or 021 558 453 www.hartleytiling.co.nz Waikato & BOP Wide • Commercial and domestic tiling • Mosaic, Ceramic, Porcelain • All natural stone products • Floor preparation • Under floor heating • Accredited TANZ member • Registered waterproofing applicators • Deck Jack system supplied & fitted
