With five entries ranging in categories from new homes $500,000 through to $1.5m, showhome and multi unit, the 2023 awards saw the team take home medals for all five - a category winner, three gold, one silver, and a bronze. It also took out the coveted Franchise of the Year 2023 title at the Landmark Homes awards, marking the fourth consecutive year it has secured this accolade. Landmark Homes Taupo franchise owners Steve Painter and Gerry Schumacher say the recognition is particularly sweet as the franchise has not only endured the challenging market conditions over the past couple of years but has emerged stronger than ever. By leaning into a robust marketing strategy, placing unwavering trust in its quality and using downturns as opportunities to elevate its brand, the Landmark Homes Taupo story reflects the power of a cohesive team combined with a savvy strategy. “We’ve got a very good team, and I credit winning to their dedication and high standards,” says Steve. “Having an experienced quality team means we can come together to resolve issues and we come out stronger.” He says entering the HOTY Awards is a time-consuming process so it’s not something that’s done lightly. But as Steve explains the awards are about more than just adding to the trophy cabinet. “A key reason for entering in five different categories was to showcase what we can do and really support our business plan for the coming year,” says Steve. “That’s our point of difference compared to everyone else. A lot of other businesses are pulling back at the moment because sales are down across the board. But we see that as a time to ramp things up. When buyers are considering who to build with, we want to be the first company they think of. And showcasing that we strive to build above industry standard with award-winning quality, homes with happy clients helps us do that.” They say it comes down to being able to move with the trends and forecasting in advance what’s happening across all platforms of the business. “We know our homes deliver above industry standard, so we’re always ready to back ourselves,” says Steve. Winning the Landmark Homes Franchise of the Year Awards for the fourth year running was testament to Steven and Gerry’s team. Landmark Homes Taupo was recognised for fostering a thriving working environment with the Team Culture award, as well as an award for Health and Safety and also Brand Representation. Steven and Gerry say the year ahead is looking busy for the Landmark Taupo team with a strong pipeline of projects in the works, along with a new showhome under construction in Kinloch, Taupo. Their first Hawke’s Bay Landmark Homes showhome has just opened at 71 Oak Road, Poraiti in Napier complementing their current award winning showhome at 5 Poroporo Way at Ngā Roto Estate, Taupō. Each home is uniquely different showcasing ideas and styles to any potential new build client. Steven says the job of a showhome is to display what’s possible and in the case of the Taupō showhome the 268sqm house offers high levels of attention to detail. It comprises four bedrooms and three bathrooms. On the ground floor there is an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area leading to a covered outdoor dining and entertaining room. This in turn flows to a patio with a locally made fireplace. The lounge has a vertical feature timber wall with an in-built fire. The exterior cladding is also all about detail with the striking combination of BGC Stratum vertical cladding, brick veneer and cedar creating street appeal. And for anyone considering a new home build Steven says that now is the time to do it: “The price of land is the most affordable it has been in years and the cost of building is never going to be cheaper than it is right now.” “Having an experienced quality team means we can come together to resolve issues and we come out stronger.”
