| 79 Connemara Properties: Silverbrooke Development The design team focused on ensuring that each of the neighbourhoods inside of Silverbrooke had awesome community facilities. DEVELOPMENT SETTING THE STANDARD AT SILVERBROOKE Some see ‘hilly’ and think ‘too hard’, we see the opportunity for innovative design. Some see ‘dense’, we see the beauty of native bush to highlight. Where others look and see ‘too hard basket’ we relish a challenge. One of our most collaborative projects, Silverbrooke, has provided challenges that required innovative thinking and experience to succeed. Far from spooking us, the challenge made us grab our coee, roll up our sleeves, and get down to work. The medium density housing development, which is regularly used as an example of bold urban design and innovative housing of its kind, is at the gateway to Whitby, Porirua. Envelope was right in the thick of things with a creative, hardworking team on board for the development from early 2018. Lead by client Serendipity Investments, the multi-faceted project involves Envelope as the consultant for civil and land development engineering, as well as surveying for the subdivision and land transfer. Envelope’s structural team have also been involved with input for the subdivision work with the retaining walls. Tim Campbell, Principal of Connemara, stands at the forefront of this transformative project. Director Alan Blyde says development manager Tim Campbell ensured the team working on Silverbrooke collaborated, supported each other, treated each other with respect and had fun, while always delivering top quality work under pressure. ‘We felt a synergy right away with other parties on Silverbrooke. They value what we value. We’re a tight team and we’re about quality are Envelope values, and to work with like-minded people on interesting and worthy projects is just fantastic.’ And having Tim’s leadership and expertise in property development meant the synergy and collaboration was oh-so smooth for all. The pressure also turned up when relocating a twin bulk watermain, a regionally significant piece of infrastructure which provided water supply for all of Porirua City. Alan says it was extremely dicult, costly, and risky. Now the community has the best of both worlds, a direct connection to Transmission Gully and the capital city, and extensive walking tracks through native bush. Alan says this has added to a development which is leading the way in medium density housing with density not usually possible on such hilly land. With a quick-on-your-feet innovative team, Silverbrooke stands as a shining example of bold urban design and sets the standard for medium density housing, proving any curveball can be an exhilarating and game-changing path to success.
