While its core business is building residential homes for individual clients Humphries Construction two key sister companies: KPA Properties, focusing on higher density residential housing, and HDL (Humphries Developments Ltd), specialising in commercial developments. This strategic structure allows the company to address various sectors of the property market efficiently, says Sam. KPA Properties is making significant contributions to the local housing supply with several projects in the pipeline or underway. The Foxton development features homes ranging from 89 to 112 square metres and is ideal for first-time buyers or those looking to downsize. Construction is earmarked to start in early 2025, with homes available for purchase off the plans. In Bulls, KPA Properties is embarking on an ambitious project set to transform the town’s landscape. “We’re in the early stages of a development that will see over 100 homes built,” says Sam. This project, situated on land purchased by KPA Properties in 2020, aims to provide affordable family homes and cater to the growing population associated with the expanding RNZAF Base Ohakea. Humphries Construction’s commitment to diverse housing options is further exemplified by developments like the Batt Street project in Palmerston North. “Sections like these, in prime locations, are hard to come by,” says Sam. The project, already underway, will deliver three high-spec homes in a desirable area within walking distance of key city amenities. In Poole Street, Feilding, two homes are in consenting stage. “Due to the superb location and proximity to Timona Park, we figure this one will be perfect for young families, or retired couples,” says Sam. T T Karen Phelps On the commercial front, HDL is making its mark with innovative projects. It is currently developing 18 storage units near Palmerston North airport. The units complete with mezzanine floors for additional storage and full accessibility, will be individually titled and available for purchase. HDL is also involved in a joint venture car wash and 10 unit lock up facility project in Feilding. The units will be rented out.
