Premium steel shed company KiwiSpan Taupō is now under new ownership with the company’s longstanding accounts manager Jessica Jamieson, who knows the business inside and out, recently taking the reins from Dave Frazer. KiwiSpan Taupō has provided long-lasting, high quality steel sheds, buildings, barns, shelters, and garages across the Lake Taupō area, Turangi, Mangakino, and Reporoa for the past 12 years. Jessica joined the business not long after it opened and has worked as head of the accounts department ever since. Although she ended up in the finance industry, Jessica had previously followed her passion for property to the University of Auckland where she gained a Bachelor of Property. She went on to become a registered financial adviser and has spent the past few years providing financial advice and financial literacy programmes for businesses and organisations. Jessica has now taken steps to make this KiwiSpan Taupō takeover a successful transition and has started her BCITO training to become a qualified builder, training under her skilled and dedicated construction team at KiwiSpan Taupō. “It will take a couple of years, but I’m not planning on going anywhere any time soon,” she says. “I want this business to be as strong as it can be and I think becoming a qualified builder is going to help me be a better leader. I’m going to be able to understand what I’m asking my team to do, and even give them a hand on site.” With her change of role now placing Jessica in front of her customers, she is used to being people-facing as a financial advisor, but she wants to grow her sales skills more organically. “I don’t want to be a pushy salesperson.
