Mat Vincent has 24 years of construction experience, and in 2022 he and his wife Linn decided to start their own building company. Offered an apprenticeship straight out of school at 16 with a small builder in Taranaki, gave Mat a lucky break, and he’s never turned away from the trade. Having worked on many different projects over the past few decades, including new builds and renovations, Mat is still very much on the tools everyday, whilst Linn keeps the accounts in order, and makes sure the business is running smoothly. The couple have four children so life is pretty busy for the pair who have both grown up in Taranaki, and settled into life in Hawera. Employing two staff - one being an apprentice in his third year and the other a tradesman with over 25 years experience, the team has ample knowledge to take on any job that comes their way. Mat enjoys the challenges associated with interesting and complex builds. “The construction industry is always changing and evolving. So up skilling and keeping up with legislation changes is a must.” Vincent Construction has recently completed a commercial renovation in Hawera, for Icon Automation. This involved demolishing an existing build in between two other buildings, which made access interesting, he said. The team constructed a new building in its place, which in addition, earthquake strengthened the building next door. They also installed a large amount of new aluminium joinery and fitted the building out as new office space. “It was a complete make over and was a great job for great clients.” Vincent Construction endeavours to run a building business that is known for quality, and the feedback from Icon Automation was very positive. Business manager Scott MacArthur said the scope of work included planning, demolition, asbestos removal, earthquake strengthening, and a complete office fit-out. “From the outset, Vincent Construction demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism in their approach to all aspects of the project. Their team was not only skilled and knowledgeable but also highly attentive to the specific needs and requirements of our renovation.” He said one of the standout qualities of Vincent Construction was their commitment to compliance and adherence to health and safety procedures. “They ensured that all work was executed with the utmost regard for safety standards, which was particularly important given the nature of the project.” Scott said the communication throughout the renovation process was clear and timely, “and they consistently kept us informed about progress and any potential challenges. Their problem-solving abilities and willingness to collaborate made the entire experience smooth and efficient.” Mat said at the end of the day his business was all about aligning with the right people in the industry to get the job done. “We are surrounding ourselves with quality local contractors as to make sure we deliver a quality job for our clients. “I have been lucky enough to work with a lot of top tradesmen over the years and that they have played a huge part in my development as a tradesman.” Vincent Construction BUILDING Proudly associated with Vincent Construction NEW HOMES • RENOVATIONS • MAINTENANCE PLUMBING • GAS FITTING • DRAINAGE SITE WORKS • SUBDIVISIONS • ROADINGS • DRIVEWAYS • EARTHWORKS • DEMOLITION Contact Nik 027 430 1255 kiser.civil@yahoo.co.nz PO Box 275, Hawera SERVING SOUTH TARANAKI Proudly supporting Vincent Construction. • Interior / Exterior • Fibrous Plastering Need a Master Plasterer?
