These stores along with Mitre10 Mega Kapiti, Westgate and Henderson Auckland are part of the business interests of family-owned Scott & Ricketts Group, headed by brothers Graeme and Stephen Ricketts. Although historically a retail business, Scott & Ricketts Mitre10 is now one of Hawkes Bay’s major trade suppliers. Early this year the group opened a dedicated trade distribution centre, and has also invested in a joint venture frame and truss manufacturing facility, Premier Prenail Solutions, based in Manawatu and servicing the lower North Island. In the 2024 Mitre 10 Store and Supply Partner of the Year Awards, the Napier and Hastings stores won the Trade Business of Year award, while the Napier store separately won Garden Centre of the Year. The award judges described Mitre 10 Mega Napier and Hastings as a deserving winner for the Trade Business of the Year award, demonstrating a clear plan for growth and success in achieving key growth initiatives, while describing the Napier garden centre as being a credit to the passionate team and culture and ‘wow-factor’ displays creating an inviting experience. Scott & Ricketts Group has been a part of the Hawkes Bay community since 1961 and from small beginnings in Taradale, when Graeme and Stephen’s parents Derek and Audrey Ricketts joined in partnership with a Bert Scott who ran a small paint and glazing shop.
