86 | Professional Excavation - New Plymouth CONTRACTING A passion for serving the Taranaki region Professional Excavation, started by Joshua Prestidge in 2014, stemmed from a family business. T T Rosa Watson Over its 10 years in business, Taranaki-based contracting firm Professional Excavation has made a remarkable contribution to local communities. Professional Excavation, started by Joshua Prestidge in 2014, stemmed from a family business from that he then branched out on his own in 2014 with an excavator, truck, and bobcat. At the time, it had built up a name in building national competition BMX tracks, which involves having a good eye for levels and heaps of creativity on the machine, Joshua told Business North magazine. “We love engaging in the creative process of making our customers visions come to life, especially the ones with no paper plans. “We cemented our name as out of the box thinkers and problem-solvers right from the early years, tackling jobs which would often have the engineers and (us) scratching (our) heads.” From those beginnings the company has expanded to a civil construction company serving businesses and councils engaging in excavation, surfacing, and commercial hard landscaping, completing projects such as subdivisions, roading, car parks, vehicle crossings, commercial pavements and formwork, walkways and footpaths. They also provide kerb and channel, concrete, asphalt and chipseal pavements, excavation and site works in sensitive sites. A dedicated team was at the heart of the company, Joshua said. “We have a tight knit crew of talented and experienced operators. We all share the common passion for the industry. “We believe in upskilling through a range of courses provided by Connexis and providing opportunities for our staff to grow in their own unique skillsets and passions for the job.” Modern plant and equipment have also contributed to the company’s success with specialised pieces of plant and equipment that includes excavators with rotary hitches and unique hydraulic attachments, roller chip sealing trucks for tight sites, state of the art heated bitumen sprayers, and laser grader. As well as providing valuable services, the company likes to give back to the community. “We are passionate about our region and our communities and love being involved in community projects that benefit and enhance peoples use of the outdoor spaces that Taranaki is blessed with,” Joshua said. “We are always open to engaging with other like-minded business working in the region to collaborate and share the success and the sense of achievement that we are working together to move the region forward.” Taranaki was a region with huge potential and had the ability to sustain and support the growth of many industries, he said. “And Professional Excavation is here for it! We plan on being an integral part of the development of Taranaki and all it has to offer, supporting businesses as they grow and the community spaces as they are enhanced, and capturing and refining the natural beauty of this region.” The company is currently supporting the Hoops in Parks project which sees new basketball hoops being installed across the region’s parks and marae. Joshua acknowledged all the people that had contributed to the company over the last 10 years. “We would like to thank all our parents, past co-workers, customers, subcontractors, suppliers and our current team for all their unwavering commitment to our vision and passion for the industry and our region.” TEN YEARS SHAPING COMMUNITIES 9001, 45001, 14001 www.professionalexcavation.co.nz 0800 PRO EXCAVATE (0800 776 392) Civil Construction Excavation Surfacing Utilities We are an Accounting and Business advisory firm who works with small to medium Trades related business such as Builders, Plumbers, Electricians, Tilers, Painters, Panel beaters, Mechanics.
