Leading the construction to strengthen and restore Te Matapihi, Wellington’s Central Library, has been a landmark project for LTM. This exciting project has been complex, running over many years, and the scale is considerable. Stats released on the build process illustrate the impressive numbers involved, including: • 560 cubic metres of concrete • 1400 tonnes of structural steel • 22,000m of welding rod • 877,000 hours worked on site • 1600 workers inducted on site • 1250 tonnes of reinforcing steel • 878m of piles drilled • 3,000+ tonnes of concrete demolished • 145,000 litres of grout pumped. • The total budget for the building’s restoration, encompassing the full design and build, is $217.6m.
