DMI delivering leading edge outcomes Rotorua based DMI Electrical Engineering Ltd is in the closing stages of a four month project working with Geo40, the company building a state-of-the-art commercial scale silica extraction plant at Contact Energy’s Ohaaki Northern plant. DMI Electrical Engineering’s role is to deliver an electrically complete plant, ready for commissioning early in the New Year. Some commissioning has already commenced. Founded by TimWiringi in early 2018, DMI Electrical Engineering’s involvement in Geo40’s groundbreaking project re lects the company’s drive to deliver customer focused outcomes. Based in Rotorua, DMI Electrical Engineering has wasted no time spreading its wings and now operates throughout New Zealand and the Paci ic Islands. A recently established business in Australia replicating its work in New Zealand has given the company an Australasian focus. A turnkey project based business; DMI Electrical Engineering’s core focus is developing leading edge electrical equipment designed for process automation. “When we irst started the business, I wanted to clearly de ine and understand who and what we were,” says Tim. “The customers I worked with wanted a one-stop-shop and I recognised the value of turnkey projects, o ering clients a complete solution from design, fabrication, installation and commissioning, along with the project management through those phases.” The process typically starts with a customer presenting Tim and his teamwith an engineering design for a machine and a business process they want to automate. “In conjunction with programmers and mechanical engineers, we design and fabricate switchboards and equipment that make those machines run electrically, and then do the installation right through to commissioning.” Since inception, DMI Electrical Engineering’s projects have included work within sawmilling, food and geothermal industries, but Tim says he and his team can help any industry where there is a need for the design, manufacture and installation of electronic equipment for process automation. “The way we work with customers and other contractors is a de ining factor for us. We really try to go to the next level when working with both customers and contractors. We refer to our customers as our partners because ultimately we take on the burden of their project to make it work. We take ownership of the project, as if it’s our own plant.” Re lecting on the success of the business he founded and is deeply passionate about, Tim says he is very fortunate with the team he has around him. “We’ve fostered a real team spirit that is focused on customer outcomes. I select my team members based on how we’re all going to work together. I always say skill can be learned but ‘team it’ is so important. The relationship we have with people in the businesses we work with is also very inclusive. We always take the irst step to ensure ‘team’ includes all those we’re working with to achieve the best outcome for the project.” Tim reckons his passion for the industry is about achieving great things and the creative element that it has. “It’s like a painting and this is how I paint. There is a huge amount of satisfaction being able to do that.” 027 823 6032 Electrical Equipment for Process Automation CABLE TRUNKING. PLANT & PROCESS. SYSTEM DESIGN. FABRICATION. FOOD PRODUCTION.
