The moulded fibre trays have been specifi- cally designed for packing fruit and protecting it during the packing, storage and shipping process. They are made with special characteristics that allow them to be used in different tem- perature and humidity environments without losing their ability to protect and handle the fruit. With 17 years expertise Tim says that Hawk has created ‘recipes’ to ensure quality prod- ucts are produced that protect and enhance fruit and are compliant with international industry regulations and standards. Technology is at the heart of the manufac- ture of the company’s high quality products. Advanced controls and automation ensure process variables such as fibre, pulp con- sistency, temperature, machine speed etc are continuously monitored and controlled automatically. Tim says that this allows production staff to focus on tray quality excellence. “The majority of our customers have one chance a year to make some money. The technology we use enables Hawk to supply our customers with a tray that will deliver their fruit anywhere in the world to the highest standards,” he explains. Hawk boasts a number of certifications including ISO9001, ISO45001, HACCP and FSC Certification meanign it has in place an effec- tive quality management system recognised in over 75 international countries. Tim says the result is that Hawk custom- ers purchase quality assured products every time and can pass that assurance on to their customers with equal confidence. Other services include assisting customers with reporting and analysis of business usage, process flows and training. Hawk also works continuously with customers on new pack- aging developments or reviews of existing packaging. The company’s Virtual Inventory Manage- ment (VIM) stock management system was created by Hawk to further help clients man- age inventory, says Tim. Stock is delivered on a consignment basis and usage is recorded via a webportal or mobile phone app. Regular auto-replenishment orders occur as needed. “It is our job to help clients manage stocks to keep their business running smoothly. By having a complete live view of stockholdings and product usage we can tailor regular replenishment orders to suit client needs,” explains Tim. “Stock can also be supplied on a consign- ment basis to help with cashflow. We work with our clients to ensure we manufacture the correct seasonal quantities. It’s just another aspect of our focus on striving to better un- derstand our customers’ business so that we can continue to develop products and services that will position them as market leaders and Hawk as the supplier of choice.”
