It’s often recommended by councils and house building companies as the preferred method to establish a lawn,” explains Mike. Hydroseeding is used by clients such as Golden Homes, which sees Lawn & Turf Contracting complete this service for Golden Homes’ clients as part of its house and land packages. Seed is applied evenly on site by a wood ibre mulch sprayed across a prepared surface. Mike says the mulch acts as a germination bed by retaining moisture, resulting in a quick and consistent strike within 5 14 days, depending on soil temperature and seed variety. During germination, the mulch layer restricts the growth of weeds, while protecting the seed from wind, rain and adverse weather conditions. Fertiliser and tacking agents are also added to the mixture to boost the lawn establishment phase. “Hydroseeding gives you a excellent result under the most adverse of weather conditions. We use wood ibre mulch, which gives twice the moisture retention and twice the stick ability than paper mulch, which is commonly used by other applicaters. We use leading market products and the most up to date industry technology,” says Mike. For civil settings hydroseeding can be a solution for critical erosion jobs, swale drains, new roadside and footpath berms to be compliant. For farmers it can minimise erosion and stabilise new earthworks on large cuttings on new races and around e luent ponds. Lawn & Turf Contracting was started by Mike and wife Debbie in 2006. It completes work for builders, developers, civil construction companies and the general public. Mike says the highly quali ied team sets Lawn & Turf Contracting apart. Mike has a Trade Certi icate in Golf Course Greenkeeping and is a member of the International Erosion control association (IECA), visiting the USA twice to attend Erosion Control Conferences, a Green Space Conference, and a Turf Management Conference. This knowledge is passed onto his team, which includes NZQA quali ied turf managers. Debbie has a NZ Certi icate in Architectural Draughting and a Bachelor of Management Majoring in Accounting and Finance at Waikato University and takes on the o ice and administration side of Lawn & Turf Contracting. Lawn & Turf Contracting provides an all-round service in Waikato from site preparation, irrigation design and installation, sowing of seed, hydroseeding and providing aftercare and lawncare services. It also provides arti icial lawns. “Lawn & Turf’s aim is to provide a quality product and service. Our success has been created by consistently delivering a personal service with a can-do attitude.” Lush lawns and environmental benefits with Hydroseeding Golden Homes Waikato has sold all of its house and land packages in stage 1A and 1B with titles pending early January for stage 2. But those seeking to build a new home need not despair – more releases are imminent. “We have stage three locked in with a superblock of 27 sites, ranging from 300 – 420sqm sites. There will be a good mix of three- and four-bedroom homes in sizes of 140-170sqm. “Once again, we will be mixing these up with traditional gable and monopitch homes to add some flavour to the mix and showcasing our work,” says Wayne who invites people to register their interest by contacting Golden Homes Waikato so they can be notified when the next releases hit the market. Since Golden Homes opened its doors in 1990, Golden Homes as a company has remained focused on being on the cutting edge, offering clients the latest trends and products that are available in the market. This extends from concept and design, through to incorporating the latest materials and building methods resulting in homes built to the highest specifications available in the market, says Wayne. For nearly a decade Golden Homes has used steel framing in all its builds after recognizing the clear benefits including durability, strength, earthquake performance and environmental sustainability. Golden Homes uses New Zealand-made ZOG® steel framing and Wayne says that every home built by Golden Homes comes with a 50-year durability statement on the framing issued by New Zealand Steel. Each new home comes with Golden Homes’ high standard specifications resulting in an extremely high quality, yet affordable home. Wayne says that Golden Homes continues to be New Zealand’s leaders in the construction of steel framed homes with proven in-house design and quality manufacture and construction methods, which have been developed over the last 10 years. In addition to house and land packages Golden Homes Waikato can build from clients’ plans or from a plan by Golden Homes on a client’s own site. “Our experienced local team know the Waikato region intimately and are here to support with advice and guidance with our clients’ dream home designs. “With this knowledge and experience within the Waikato, we are able ensure that the home we design with exceeds individual expectations.” “Once again, we will be mixing these up with traditional gable and monopitch homes to add some flavour to the mix and showcasing our work.”
