Electrix proud to deliver expert service in Manawatū-Whanganui Powerco has been investing heavily in recent years to renew and future proof electricity network infrastructure across their North Island area of operation. In Manawatū-Whanganui, this important work is being done in conjunction with a select tier one contractor called Electrix. The Palmerston North-based Electrix team has signi icantly lifted network performance in the region since joining Powerco’s improvement push in 2018. Electrix established a distribution depot, purchased new equipment and brought in specialist overseas sta to help service the contract and has been hard at work since delivering distribution and transmission services under Powerco’s ive-year Customised Price-quality Plan (CPP). “The contract has involved replacing very large overhead poles, upgrading underground cables and other electricity assets,” says Owen Harris, who manages the company’s distribution business unit in Palmerston North. “We also did transmission work earlier in 2021 [the Manawatū River crossing] as Electrix has transmission capacities as well. Our transmission business unit services the Transpower contract here too.” Electrix employs more than 50 sta in its distribution unit and is seeking to grow further due to the strong demand for services in this area. Work to manage, maintain and renew overhead and underground electricity distribution networks is a heavily regulated ield. Powerco knows it can rely on the trusted and experienced Electrix team to get the work done safely and to the required standard with the least disruption to power supply. “We set up our people in the ield for success and strive to have good working relationships with Powerco and our customers. We take care to follow speci ications and designs, so that what they want gets built and timeframes for shutdowns are adhered to. “Safety of the public and our employees is paramount and Electrix is committed to providing a safe work environment. Electrix has a strong culture of customer service and has met regularly with Powerco throughout the CPP to update them on progress. “We receive a lot of really positive feedback, not just fromPowerco but also from the community when we’re out in the ield. Pride, performance and value are qualities that drive Electrix to deliver the best service they can to their customers. In business since 1955, Electrix is an experienced, leading provider of engineering, construction and maintenance services to asset owners across the country. Operating under the auspices of global energy specialist VINCI, Electrix is well supported with additional international experience and expertise. “If we have a large job, then getting the extra resource we need is only a phone call away. I’m one of ive distribution business unit managers, the others being in Auckland it’s great to have that support from my own team.” 06 213 7071 www.electrix.co.nz 69 Malden Street, Palmerston North
