38 | ENGINEERING ATI Engineering Expansion driven by local industries T Sue Russell Since ATI Engineering was established in 1993, the Hastings-based company has grown steadily, seizing opportunities to expand its capacity, capability, plant and people. The company formed as a result of an amalgamation of Allstyle Engineering and Treeways 2000 Ltd. Managing Director, Simon Dunn, who has been with ATI Engineering since 1999, says being based in Hastings has helped the business to expand as it has forged relationships with many of the meat, food and wine producing entities in the district . “In those early years we actually focused on expanding beyond the fruit industry and now a large amount of our work comes from not only general engineering but also the viticulture businesses flourishing in this neck of the woods.” Supplying the stainless steel plant into wine-making facilities and servicing them as necessary is now a core part of business, along with building plant for Heinz-Watties, Lowe Corporation, NZ Frost Fans, PanPac and Delegat Winery, to name but a few. Today, ATI Engineering employs a team of 35, in a 3500sqm well-equipped workshop and office facility at Hastings. Staff have acquired experience and qualifications across T to page 40 a range of engineering disciplines from New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and South Africa. The company also places a big emphasis on training up the next generation of engineer by connecting with local schools through the Gateway programme.
