With a record number of entries this year the standard was extremely high, so the win was especially gratifying, says Landmark Homes Taupō, Rotorua and Whakatāne sales and marketing co-ordinator Paige Nairn. In 2021 the franchise also won, for the second year in a row, the Landmark Homes New Zealand Franchise of the Year title, which is judged over all aspects of the business. It also took out the sales achievement, financial and brand excellence awards. It also won accolades in the 2021 Registered Master Builders House of the Year Competition in the new homes $1m-$1.5m category: silver, gold and supreme lifestyle awards and was named a regional category winner and made it to the Top 100. “We pride ourselves on our knowledge around the industry and delivering consistently high quality homes regardless of investment level,” says director Steven Painter. “All our success comes from our really strong team. Key factors such as communication, teamwork and a collaborative approach are important in consistently successfully delivering above and beyond client expectations.” Forward planning has smoothed out some supply chain issues caused by demand on the building sector and Covid-19. “Once the build contract is signed and design is completed, our construction team order the necessary materials straight away to ensure they are on site at the right time. It’s meant we’ve experienced few delays.” He says there has been a huge amount of new build enquiry in the regions in which the franchise operates - Taupō, Rotorua and Whakatāne. It is also currently servicing Hawke’s Bay. He predicts availability of land ready to build on will become an issue along with the rocketing prices. One recent innovation has been a duplexes project: “This project was to test the waters and gain a new skill set building duplex/ apartment type homes, which target medium density living after recent changes in the RMA. It was the first of it’s kind within Taupō and has been extremely successful with these homes now being completed and all selling extremely quickly. These styles of homes are the beginning of what will be become a trend moving forward.” The homes consist of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, double garage and are even equipped with a lift. The stunning views of Lake Taupō meant they were extremely popular. Steven says demand is coming from the larger cities with people looking to relocate, drawn by Taupō’s beauty and easy lifestyle. Landmark Homes Taupō, Rotorua and Whakatāne is owned by Steven Painter and Gerry Schumacher. Originally from Hawkes Bay, Steven moved to Taupō to build his parents’ home and never left. He brings over 20 years building experience. “Being an experienced builder definitely helps you understand the risks around key areas, and that’s important when you’re speaking to clients,” says Steven. “I take them through the process, right from the design stage, and tell them what works.” Gerry specialises in the customer service side of the business. An accountant and the former business development manager for Landmark Homes NZ, he’s an expert on budgeting and planning. Paige says that new section releases in developments coming on stream including Seven Oaks at Kinloch and Nga Roto Estate mean land availability should improve in coming years. In the meantime people can register interest and take a look at the latest show home at 106B Harakeke Drive, Nga Roto Estate, Taupō, which is based on the Rangitoto Ready to Build plan and showcases medium density living. “The future of living has come to Taupō, perfect for people looking to down size, an investment property, or a small family. This stunning home showcases the prestigious Landmark Homes quality, whilst providing an insight into medium density living and the true essence of our Landmark Homes range.” 24 Hour service throughout Taupo and Turangi.
