Crossan Builders T T Kelly Deeks BUILDING With the rising cost of construction increasingly becoming a barrier to building new homes, New Plymouth’s Crossan Builders has come up with a solution – Cozie Homes, which designs and builds affordable, transportable, architecturally designed homes that maximise space and quality while significantly reducing the price per square metre. “On-site builds are getting quite expensive now,” says owner and builder Jono Crossan. “We’ve got a shortage of homes, but people can’t afford to build. We’ve formed Cozie Homes because this needs to change. By building off-site and transporting, we can bring the square metre rate right down and make it affordable for Kiwis to build brandnew, thoughtfully designed, and skillfully crafted high-quality homes.” Cozie Homes prides itself on being more than just a building company. It is a group of passionate people that understand the significance of a home. Its legacy is built on years of construction experience, where superior building and delivery practices have been honed over many decades. “Every nail, every board is a testament to our dedication to providing not just a house, but a home that echoes with strength and comfort.” Jono says people in New Plymouth are interested in building new homes, but with an average price tag of around $1 million, most need a more affordable solution. Cozie Homes has pared back on expensive architectural features and vast and superfluous openings, eliminated the delays involved with on-site construction, and sped up the construction process to make considerable savings to the cost of traditional construction. “Multiple elaborate and intricate architectural features can really slow down on-site construction,” he says. “Our transportables are getting back to basics and making building a new home affordable. We’ve got good systems and a good team in place that allows us to build a home in our yard in two to three months, and we can build four or five at a time. “With our traditional construction company Crossan Builders, we have waited for months to get the engineering and geo-tech aspects completed before we can even start building on site. Now we still have to wait for these things but only to deliver a Cozie Home to site. Construction can begin straight away.” Cozie Homes is building stylish and high-quality homes from tried and tested materials using unique architectural designs that make the best use of space. The company has predesigned plans for two- to four-bedroom functional and stylish homes. and with an in-house architect, it also creates bespoke homes designed specifically to individual customers’ requirements. A modular option is available for people looking to extend in the future. With a maximum footprint of 140sqm, Cozie Homes are not tiny homes and when you consider a traditional 200sqm home usually contains an attached 50sqm garage, there is really no compromise on living space. Cozie Homes can offer packages including a standalone 6mx6m garage. Cozie Homes manages the entire process for its clients, keeping their vision as their mission and turning their dreams and ideas into tangible, liveable spaces.
