Parksey Construction BUILDING A young and ambitious Okato-based construction company is forging a reputation for crafting bespoke architecturally designed new builds, renovations, rural buildings and commercial projects. Founded in 2022 by licensed building practitioner, Liam Parker and his fiancée Amy, Parksey Construction Ltd is a family-owned building business operating from Waitara to Pihama. With decades of building experience under his belt, Liam leads a small but skilled team of qualified and experienced builders. A member of NZ Certified Builders, Liam personally oversees every build as project manager, assisted by his two foremen, which enables multiple build projects at one time. “We can do it all really,” says Liam. “Architectural new builds, kitchen and bathroom renovations, holiday homes, cowsheds and pole sheds and light commercial.” One of Parksey Construction’s standout projects of late, is a two-stage build on Kirihau Road in Oakura. The first phase, completed recently, is a spacious 145sqm ‘man cave’ that combines functionality and comfort. It features a master bedroom, kitchen, lounge, and all essential amenities. “We’ve finished that one and the second stage is a separate 125sqm house situated on an elevated section above the man cave,” says Liam. Expected to be completed by April, this architectural build exemplifies Parksey Construction’s expertise in creating cohesive yet distinct living spaces. The site also includes retaining walls that tie the two structures together, while complementing the scenic coastal surroundings. In Okato, Parksey Construction Ltd is spearheading an ambitious architectural project on rural land. This $1.5million build is an architectural design from Oakura-based architect Trudie Hudson. “This will be a four-bedroom, two-bathroom family home that maximises its coastal views from its hillside location,” says Liam. “The foundations are down for this build and we’re just awaiting frames and trusses, then we’ll recommence the build about February.” Featuring a striking glass-and-steel design at its core, the living area layout is large and open-plan with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, creating a seamless connection between the indoor space and the natural environment. “There is a rectangle centre of glass and steel, where the lounge and massive kitchen overlook the ocean,” says Liam. “To one side of this lies the master bedroom suite, complete with a gym, ensuite bathroom, and walk-in wardrobe.” The opposite wing houses three bedrooms for the children, along with a dedicated bathroom. The centrepiece of the exterior is a 90sqm deck, sheltered from prevailing winds – the perfect spot for outdoor relaxation and entertainment. For the exterior, the Okato home will incorporate sustainable and stylish Abodo cladding – a bamboo-based material used for both the walls and soffits, as well as Abodo decking. The home design includes a double garage with an additional room for storage. plus washroom. As Liam and his Parksey Construction team continue to expand their expertise in architectural builds, they remain committed to helping clients with renovations and extensions, decking and fencing and re-roofing.
