Supreme Construction Taranaki T T Karen Phelps BUILDING Evolving from humble beginnings to tackling multi-million-dollar developments, Supreme Construction Taranaki will celebrate its 10th anniversary this July. The company began modestly with Jason Wills, who founded Supreme Construction Taranaki in 2015 after spending four decades honing his craft in various construction roles, including running his own roofing company for 10 years, with a single labourer. Initially focusing on smaller projects such as decks, fences, and repairs, today the company employs 13 staff and handles projects throughout Taranaki and beyond. Jason says many clients only use Supreme Construction Taranaki, indicating the huge trust people place in Jason and his team. Currently, Supreme Construction Taranaki is overseeing a large multi-million-dollar development on Molesworth Street for one such client. “We are basically building a sealed building within the existing building. It’s been a very technical project in terms of the engineering,” explains Jason. “ One of the project’s primary challenges involves extensive earthquake strengthening, requiring anchor piles driven 11 metres into the ground. The company is collaborating with Red Jacket Engineering for overall design and structural engineering, while Spark Engineering handles welding and structural assembly. The project involves adding one and a half storeys to an existing structure, creating a luxury apartment featuring a formal lounge on the top floor and three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, lounge, and a swimming and spa pool area below. The development, which commenced more than 18 months ago, faced initial delays due to council and iwi considerations, but is now progressing steadily, with the first two floors of commercial tenancies expected to be completed by March and the apartment finalised by mid-2025. Jason says the scale and complexity of the project will boost the company’s portfolio, which already includes significant achievements, such as a recently completed three-storey office block refurbishment, which is now being leased by Worley. It is currently undertaking an eight-storey tower renovation on the same site, encompassing both exterior and interior works, with completion scheduled for late 2025. The company’s versatility is demonstrated through its diverse project history, from the construction of two small apartments atop a strengthened building on Curry St to commercial fit-outs for establishments like India Today restaurant and Koi Lounge in Cambridge. Jason says one strength of Supreme Construction Taranaki is its commitment to transparency, evident in its open-book pricing approach. “Every client can see exactly what they’re paying for,” says Jason, who personally sources multiple quotes for materials to ensure optimal pricing for customers. As a member of New Zealand Certified Builders offering the Halo Guarantee, Supreme Construction Taranaki maintains high professional standards across all its projects, whether residential or commercial. Its capabilities extend to specialised services, including licensed installation of ARDEX Butynol and suspended ceilings. Jason says reaching 10 years in business is a real milestone, and he aims to continue his company’s trajectory of sustainable growth. “Word of mouth is strong for us and we love it when people refer us to their friends and family. Many of our clients just come to us and get us to do all their projects. It’s the ultimate accolade.” Ph: 0800 033 400 I 404 Broadway, Stratford 4332 I vepo_plumbing@hotmail.com The team at VEPO are committed to providing Taranaki with exceptional service in our areas of expertise which includes Plumbing, Drain laying and Gas fitting.
