Partnering with Maycroft Construction, Concrete Solutions implemented fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composites for the project including window infills and column strengthening work across multiple levels using Fyfe® Tyfo® Fibrwrap systems. Roderick Gray, central regional manager for Concrete Solutions, says the Fyfe® Tyfo® Fibrwrap system allowed for significant increases in structural performance while adding minimal dead weight to the building. The project demanded precise execution and planning to ensure alignment of anchoring holes while avoiding existing reinforcing. To achieve this ferro scanning was carried out along with pilot drilling to identify existing steel positions. Roderick says due to the complex drilling arrangement, this methodology helped mitigate damages to the existing structural components of the building while strengthening works were undertaken. "We worked with the engineer to slightly alter the design work where required to make the project run more smoothly and present the work as best as possible." He says the successful completion of the project is indicative of Concrete Solutions’ ability to deliver specialised works on time and on budget.
