Wairarapa Treescaping CONTRACTING As increasingly extreme weather events damage infrastructure across the globe, the locally owned Wairarapa Treescaping provides expert arborist services to Powerco and tree owners to clear vegetation from power lines and minimise the risk of power outages, fire, and electrocution. Wairarapa Treescaping administrator Sam Hill says trees and power lines are not a good mix, especially in windy and stormy conditions. “Branches and other vegetation can blow on to lines and power poles, causing them to snag on the lines or completely take lines and poles down,” she says. “It is the tree owner’s responsibility to keep their trees a safe distance from overhead lines, and we provide the safe and professional tree-trimming service to cut or prune trees near live lines.” Sam says certain parts of the Wairarapa are incredibly exposed and windy, especially the south and east. Keeping up with tree maintenance is the best way to avoid expensive and dangerous emergency repairs. As an approved Powerco Vegetation Contractor, and approved contractor for local councils and civil works organisations, Wairarapa Treescaping is the trusted local arborist, covering all aspects of tree work, including tree removals, trimming and pruning, tree health advice, stump grinding, land clearing, and more. “With our power-line work, we are working on a lot of local farms and we like to give the farmers as much notice as we can of us accessing their property. “ We like to build relationships with farmers, so they can know who is on their property and what work is being carried out.” Wairarapa Treescaping is a 10-year-old business established by Kevin Walsh, and now co-owned by Kevin and Olivia Walsh, Harley Kaipo, and Harley’s partner Sam. Kevin had a strong and passionate horticulture background before bringing long-standing arborist Harley into his arboriculture business. From its base in Masterton, this management team runs a fully local team of passionate and professional arborists, who undertake projects throughout the Wairarapa, and even up to Manawatū and Hawke’s Bay on occasion. The company has an extensive range of plant and equipment to help tackle complex tree works, including bucket trucks with insulated elevated work platforms for power line work, a tip truck with 12-inch chipper, and a 20-tonne excavator with an 18-inch chipper for those really big tree jobs. Wairarapa Treescaping has recently added to its fleet with an Avant articulated loader, a piece of compact equipment that does a great job of getting into tight spaces to clear trees and pick up logs, reducing the labour component for certain projects. “We put our guys through their wheels, tracks, and rollers endorsements to ensure they can use this new equipment and use it safely.” Three of the Wairarapa Treescaping team are currently working through their arboriculture apprenticeships, and ongoing training is provided to keep the crew compliant with utility arboriculture expectations. An in-house fully qualified traffic- management crew ensures the utmost safety for jobs on or around the roading corridor. 0800 111 247 06 370 3818 02 130 8101 SERVICES & REPAIRERS OF: • Dozers • Generators • Forestry Equipment • Trucks • Diggers • Campers • Trailers Wairarapa Diesel Services are proud to support Wairarapa Treescaping Call Daniel today 027 271 9996 Providing general Hiab work and cartage ACRANE TRANSPORT 2016 • 100% locally owned / operated • Experienced operators / all gear certified • A fleet of Hiab trucks / trailers to meet any needs covering lower North Island • Piloting for over-dimensional loads • 30 tonne mobile crane • All size shipping container cartage • Cabins and tiny home Transport • On site crane / hiab work • Trees / concrete products / construction COVERING WELLINGTON AND MASTERTON REGIONS Get Your Car & Truck Driving Licence, Easy As 2Fathers Driver Training will train you to drive in a safe and supportive environment, grow your career, and obtain your independence through quality truck driver training. 027 287 3748 | info@2fathers.co.nz | 2fathers.co.nz businesscentral Each edition priority delivered to your door. .
