ATI Engineering ENGINEERING After a period of economic slowdown that has tested many businesses across the country, Hastings-based ATI Engineering is positioning itself for an upturn in 2026, confident that its versatility, skills base and strong client relationships will see it well placed to support customers with whatever they require. “Like many in the engineering sector the last year or so has been challenging but we are optimistic that 2026 will bring renewed momentum,” says Simon Dunn, Managing Director and one of the directors of ATI Engineering. “We are ready to assist clients with whatever comes through the door, whether it’s a small one-off job or a complex turnkey project.” That readiness is underpinned by the company’s broad capabilities. Established in 1993 following the amalgamation of Allstyle Engineering and Treeways 2000 Ltd, ATI Engineering has grown into a leading Hawke’s Bay industrial engineering firm, employing around 35 staff across three key divisions: mild steel fabrication, stainless steel fabrication and CNC machining. Based at 1414 Omahu Road in Hastings, it operates from a modern 3,500 square metre workshop and office facility, allowing most work to be completed in-house. “We never quite know what the next enquiry will be, and that’s part of the appeal of what we do,” says Simon. “We’re working for 20 to 30 different clients at the moment for example, doing a lot of jobbing work based on what customers need.” The company’s versatility ranges from smaller structural steel, such as house beams through to tanks, platforms, walkways, pipework and bottling conveyors to name but a few. It provides design, manufacture and installation including, if required, the electrical aspect, delivering fully integrated turnkey solutions across New Zealand. While it deliberately leaves very large building-scale structural steel to specialist firms, it excels in customised industrial solutions. A recent example was the cremator stack shroud project for Terry Longley & Sons Funeral Services in Havelock North. “This was something we had never done before,” says Simon. “The client needed a functional stack for a new cremator but wanted it to look aesthetically pleasing, not just an ugly structure in the middle of town. Working closely with the client’s design, ATI Engineering manufactured and installed a stainless steel shroud that met both technical and visual requirements.” ATI Engineering specialises in tank manufacturing for food processors and winemakers, producing vessels from 500-litre food processing tanks through to 200,000-litre wine tanks. It is also known for precision fabrication techniques, including CNC machining, orbital welding and conveying systems for processing lines, all supported by strict quality control and material traceability. “Our strength is practical expertise combined with reliable delivery,” says Simon. “We have a skilled, experienced team and the right equipment, which means we can respond quickly and work in partnership with clients.” Much of the company’s ongoing work is for long-standing clients in the food, beverage and processing sectors. It undertakes significant manufacture and installation work for Pan Pac Forest Products in Hawke’s Bay and carries out a wide variety of projects for Kraft Heinz. Its client list also includes companies such as Lowe Corporation, New Zealand Frost Fans and Delegat winery. As economic conditions begin to stabilise, that combination leaves ATI Engineering cautiously optimistic. “When activity picks up companies will need a trusted engineering partner. We’re confident 2026 will be a better year and we’re ready for whatever opportunities it brings.” 06 870 1322 info@roberts.org.nz www.roberts.org.nz OUR SERVICES ∙ Industrial Projects ∙ Project Management ∙ Automation ∙ Scada ∙ Plant Maintenance ∙ Instrumentation ∙ Industrial Refrigeration ∙ Sitewise Green
