ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Moore Design T T Karen Phelps Moore Design has built a reputation for creating residential architecture that balances everyday practicality with considered, beautiful design. With studios in Wellington and Tauranga, the practice is now setting its sights on more mid- to high-end new build projects across the Wellington region and Bay of Plenty, responding to growing demand for homes that feel as good to live in as they look. “What people often tell us is that they want the process to feel less overwhelming,” says Cam Moore. “Our role is to simplify it, to give clients clarity and confidence while we take care of the technical and regulatory side.” Founded in 2011 by director Cam Moore, Moore Design focuses primarily on residential work, from bespoke new homes to renovations and multi-unit housing. The practice has designed hundreds of homes across Wellington, guiding clients from initial concept through to resource and building consents. “As a nimble practice with a small, highly skilled team of architectural designers we can work across multiple projects at once and take designs from concept to consent approval relatively quickly,” he says. “That flexibility is a real advantage for clients who want momentum without compromising on quality.” In addition Moore Design has recently developed house and land packages at Kaitoke Heights, a scenic lifestyle development in Upper Hutt, all carefully planned for modern family living. The studio’s work is firmly rooted in residential architecture that responds to site, lifestyle and long-term liveability. That approach was recognised recently when Cam’s own Martinborough home won multiple Master Builders House of the Year awards. The home received Regional Category Winner, Regional Gold and Regional Interior Design honours for the Wellington and Wairarapa region, was named in the Top 100 homes nationally. The architecturally crafted home provides a luxury lodge feel with refined detailing, featuring a single-level T-shaped plan, a covered terrace designed for year-round living and seamless indoor–outdoor connections to a north-facing deck and pool. “The goal was to create a home that feels warm, grounded and inviting, while still being highly functional for family life and entertaining,” explains Cam. “It’s a good example of how thoughtful planning can elevate everyday living.” Alongside large rural homes Moore Design has also developed strong expertise in townhouse and urban living, particularly for downsizers seeking low-maintenance, lifestyle-focused new builds. Practice interior designer Hannah Ferens has recently expanded the studio’s offering by introducing an in-house interior design service. “Clients were already asking for guidance on interiors, finishes and spatial flow,” says Hannah. “Bringing interior design into the practice means we can ensure the inside of the home is as resolved and cohesive as the architecture itself.” This integrated approach supports Moore Design’s philosophy of designing homes that are not only visually compelling but genuinely enjoyable to live in. It also aligns with the practice’s Homestar accreditation, which enables it to design homes with improved performance, comfort and long-term value. “We’re seeing more people wanting homes that are tailored to how they actually live,” says Cam. “That’s where we do our best work - creating residential architecture that is practical, beautiful and built to last.” DAVMA CONSTRUCTION 027 462 7220 markdavidge@gmail.com www.davma.co.nz From concept to completion, we create exceptional homes defined by superior craftsmanship and uncompromising attention to detail. 7 Kitchener Street, Martinborough 027 293 7420 | sales@rume.nz | rume.nz Considered homestore Custom furniture • Sourcing & styling YOUR TRUSTED AND EXPERIENCED PARTNER IN FOUNDATIONS AND PRECAST Contact Nick 021 453 070 or Adam 027 560 0679 www.rapidslabs.co.nz
