H awke’s Bay building company Claud- atos Construction is now offering the QuickSet foundation system, which company director Michali Claudatos says revo- lutionises concrete foundations. “It provides a fully insulated foundation which achieves an R value of at least 3.5 com- pared with 1.2 for a more typical concrete slab foundation,” he says. Claudatos Construction is the Hawke’s Bay licensed installers for the system, which is made in New Zealand with the plastic compo- nents being made from 100% locally recycled plastics. Michali says it works in well with his company’s focus on constructing warm, ener- gy efficient, healthy homes. Claudatos Construction undertakes new homes, small commercial fit-outs, renovations and maintenance projects. The focus for new homes is design and build. If desired by the client he company can also undertake just the foundation through its affiliation with QuickSet or just complete the design for a home. “Whatever the project we take our clients every step of the way through initial concept stage right through to completion. “They are able to either choose from our ex- isting portfolio or we can collaborate together to come up with a design that suits their wants and needs. “Our commitment to our clients is more than just making their dream home come to life. We also supply a 10-year Master Builder Guarantee,” says Michali. Michali, who has been working in the building industry for over 16 years, started Claudatos Construction in 2012. A Licensed Building Practitioner and Licensed Architectural Draftsman, Michali undertakes all the design for his company’s projects in-house. He says this results in fast turnaround for clients and ease when making design changes. Claudatos Construction employs a small, dedicated team of highly skilled builders and Michali’s wife Bree undertakes the administra- tion side of the business. Claudatos Construction can work on multiple projects simultaneously throughout Hawkes Bay and also further afield if required. At present Claudatos Construction is working on a 240sqm design and build project in Hastings. The brick home with QuickSet foundation comprises four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a study, dining room, kitchen and internal double garage. It has just completed a multi million dollar home in Haumoana utilising a new German brickwork system. The two year project presented the team with a great learning op- portunity, something Claudatos Construction thrives on, says Michali. “It really demonstrated the skill of our team and that we can pretty much build anything the client desires. We absolutely love new challenges,” he says noting the team is at present building a project made from Struc- tural Insulated Panels. Michali says the Hawke’s Bay market is pumping at present but finding available land to build on is the biggest constraint.
