The company’s growth trajectory has been the result of customer demand for Booth’s to have an increased presence nationally. “Our customers want us to simplify their supply chain with one point of contact for all their transport, logistics and warehousing needs,” he says. “Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from customers taking advantage of our scale.” In October 2019 Booth’s Transport purchased the Tomoana Warehousing Hawke’s Bay operation marking the company’s entry into large scale warehousing solutions. Dallas says this has allowed Booth’s to better service its import/export clients providing transport, warehousing and third party logistics solutions. Tomoana Warehousing Hastings facility offers 15,000sqm of ambient dry store warehousing which meets all the regulatory requirements, including MPI Biosecurity transitional facilities, hazardous goods handling and customs services. This complements a smaller 6200sqm site in Tauranga. Other services include container hire or purchasing. In 2021 Coupland’s Transport and Great Lakes Transport were acquired further adding to the company’s reach and capacity nationally, particularly into the Taupo, Rotorua and Waikato regions. Dallas says this allowed the company to provide a last mile service to customers in these areas and additionally providing opportunities for the growing number of manufacturers in these regions seeking reliable transport partnerships to move freight from these centres. In March 2022 The Produce Connection was acquired. With a focus on produce transportation including a temperature controlled fleet, the company harked back to its roots as Booth’s Transport was originally established as a produce transporter carrying potatoes to the Auckland market from its home base in the Manawatu. Dallas says this particular acquisition has allowed Booth’s to make rapid inroads into the Northland market and supplement its wider North Island distribution channels. Centrally located in Palmerston North, Booth’s has also recently taken over another large scale warehousing facility, comprising 12,500sqm of storage space to add further capacity to this aspect of its operation. Dallas says that the transport and logistics industry is a dynamic and ever-changing market, which brings with it a huge number of challenges and exciting opportunities and Booth’s has been focused on taking advantage of these for the benefit of its growing national client bases.
