Kensway - proven to deliver better for less Project management and quantity surveying irm Kensway Consultants is not about seeking recognition but rather about helping clients ful il their goals and aspirations. “If the project is delivered successfully and the client is happy we’re ecstatic,” says Kensway managing director Daniel Angus. “It’s what we come to work to do every day.” Kensway Consultants was established in 1993 by Daniel’s father Peter; he recognised a gap in the market for a consultancy team that specialised in property and project management within the aged care sector. Since then Kensway has grown to become an accomplished and well-respected consultancy irm that uses its combined expertise to work across all areas of the building industry. Its projects span from small commercial to signi icant multi million dollar projects involving aged care, civic, healthcare and the public sector. A good example is the company’s work on Greytown Orchards lifestyle retirement village in SouthWairarapa. Although usually Kensway becomes involved at the inception of projects, demonstrating its lexibility, in this case Kensway came into the process after resource consent and detailed design. “As experienced project managers and quantity surveyors, we can work with our clients at all stages, from initial land purchases through costing, planning, design and construction to on-going maintenance. We specialise in guiding them and being an extension of them for their project through every step,” says Daniel. Good project managers are nowmore important than ever, he says, with the pandemic presenting daily challenges due to escalatingmarket conditions, rising interest rates and supply shortages. As TUMU Group is one of the major shareholders in Greytown Orchards this has provided even closer insight into market shifts, says Daniel. “Our job is to research, educate and ultimately provide our clients with the best options so they canmake the best decisions on all aspects of their build. Attention to detail and investing the time required are the most important factors along with being extremely close to all that is going on.” This is where Kensway is di erent, he says. As company managing director and the principal, Daniel, is also the project director on Greytown Orchards. “All of our clients are equally important to us. We setup each project with support and guidance from senior teammembers and or Directors where possible. This allows us to be close to the day to day running of projects and gives clients peace of mind that a wider team is overseeing the delivery, and ensuring we are getting the best results at all times. As Kensway can introduce consultant, contractor and supplier relationships nationally, this gives further peace of mind” With o ices in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch, Kensway works with clients across New Zealand. Although Kensway has now completed multitudes of successful projects, Daniel says the team has an attitude of constant learning and improvement, continuing to grow and expand its expertise; particularly in the retirement sector which continues to grow.
