| 93 Staged handover T T from page 90 The new Stage 2 three-story Kaweka Health building will feature base isolation technology. COMMUNITY Kaweka Health The staged handover enabled Kaweka Hospital to progress with the installation of fixtures, fittings and equipment to the completed zones of the building involving external site works, HVAC, medical gases, electrical, data, security, painting, ceilings, floor and wall coverings, joinery, external canopy and car park lighting. The big (1.5 mVA) Unison Transformer was livened up and is connected to the main switchboard, powering both Stage 1 and 2 buildings. A back-up emergency diesel generator set is providing essential power to all of Stage 1 and 50% of Stage 2. In addition six tonnes of UPS battery packs in the Stage 1 plant floor have provided 120 minutes of power supply in an emergency enabling Kaweka to complete any operating procedures in progress. The bulk liquid oxygen (LOX) vessel platform and enclosure is being prepared for install in early May. It has a capacity of 5,500 litres of cryogenic liquid oxygen, stored at less than minus -183 degrees Celsius – and Colin says that this has provided around 5 million litres of oxygen in gaseous form to the Stage 1 and 2 buildings. Located in Canning Road, opposite Hawke’s Bay Hospital, the project is the brainchild of a group of local doctors who identified a barrier to delivering good patient care was a lack of good facilities.
