Transport & Diesel Services Ltd AUTOMOTIVE Celebrating a decade of unwavering commitment, Transport & Diesel Services Ltd (TDS) has been the cornerstone of excellence in road transport and civil construction machinery mechanics in Hawera, South Taranaki. Established in 2014 by current owner, Todd Kells, Transport & Diesel Services (TDS) keep South Taranaki’s road transport sector moving by providing routine servicing, certificate of fitness pre inspection checks, full mechanical repairs and maintenance, certified brake testing technology, auto electrical and hydraulics, tail lifts and heavy equipment repairs. All backed by a 24-hour breakdown service on all makes and models of trucks, trailers and construction machinery and equipment. “We can do Castrol oil sales and changes and Ad Blue for emissions control, air conditioning and supply batteries and truck parts and service generators and forklifts as well,” says Todd, “plus mobile servicing so we’ll come to you wherever you are within South Taranaki.” The TDS office and workshop is at 28 Glover Road, Hawera where you’ll find Todd in the office with accounts manager Kerry Pryce, while in the workshop you’ll find newly appointed workshop manager Mark Brosnahan who has 10 years’ experience in the heavy transport sector. Assisting Mark four days a week is senior mechanic Robby Dunn who has 45+ years in the road transport sector and junior automotive technician Sam Bunn and second year diesel mechanic apprentice Jack Bos. Having grown his business from a one-man mobile mechanic service to a fully-fledged company with workshop, Todd is very supportive of apprentices, and says the career is an excellent choice for men and women who have mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn. “It’s a very rewarding trade and can be very well paid as you progress,” says Todd. “The fact is, the road transport and heavy machinery sector is not going to disappear. Everything is shifted by trucks throughout the country and the place would come to a standstill without them.” “I’d encourage anyone who has an interest to undertake an apprenticeship through training organisation MITO. There’s a range of apprenticeships available from automotive engineering, auto electrics, auto parts and panel-beating,” says Todd. Take part in your college Gateway Programme for school leavers and turn up in person to your local workshop. “You won’t necessarily need to be qualified to start work, just get involved to start with.” In a rapidly evolving landscape, TDS remains at the forefront of innovation, adapting to the emergence of electronic systems and emission control technologies in modern trucks. “They’re not the same trucks they were even 15 years ago,” says Todd, “they’re pretty clean running now.” Diesel remains indispensable for its cost-effectiveness and reliability, but research into hydrogen technologies were showing promise. Reflecting on a decade of achievements, TDS reaffirms its commitment to excellence, innovation, and service. With an eye towards the future, they embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, steadfast in their mission to keep South Taranaki moving forward. “I’d encourage anyone who has an interest to undertake an apprenticeship through training organisation MITO.” Proudly supporting Transport & Diesel Services Ltd Specialists in heavy transport and LT400 certi cation and repairs | linternengineering@yahoo.co.nz
