| 43 DEVELOPMENT Landsdale Developments Ltd: Brooklands Estate With a small population of around 13,000, Havelock North offers a village type lifestyle but with all the modern amenities. By providing multiple services under one roof related to land development matters Development Nous Ltd (DNL) stands out from the rest. The company offers a multi-disciplinary service with expertise in surveying, urban design, civil and structural engineering, town planning (including resource consents), landscape architecture, environmental consultation and project management. Established in 2016 DNL is led by directors Karl Carew (Licenced Cadastral Surveyor), Matthew Holder (Principal Planner), Aaron Britton (Surveyor) and Kelvin Landon (Chartered Structural Engineer). In December last year Shanley Surveyors and Design Phase Civil and Structural Engineers were amalgamated under the DNL banner deepening the company’s professional expertise for the benefit of its clients and projects. The company’s work on Brooklands Estate in Havelock North is a good example of what DNL can achieve for clients. DNL has worked on the project since the outset providing a complete service from town planning to engineering, landscape architecture, project management and surveying. DNL project manager Olli Boaler says regulatory challenges have been the biggest hurdle with DNL working via a robust process to come up with solutions. Brooklands Estate comprises six stages and all six stages have been consented and engineering approval Standing out from the pack has been completed for the entire subdivision. DNL has completed physical construction works on stage one and is working on the second stage. DNL business operations manager Will Newall says the advantage for the client in using DNL has been a stressfree easy development process. “We keep the client well informed every step of the way and basically take care of everything for them,” he says. “The broad range of skills we offer as a consultancy - planning, surveying, civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture and project management - is not overly common within the industry. Because we can do all this in house it allows for better flow and coordination between the disciplines. This makes a big difference to the quality of the job we can produce and efficiencies we can deliver to our clients.” DNL works on projects big and small with a focus on green field development and urban regeneration. The team has completed projects in mixed use, residential, health and age care, industrial, parks and open spaces, commercial, education and government throughout the Hawkes Bay region. “We’re not a corporate,” says Will. “We’re a locally owned company employing locals. We all live and work here and get a kick out of seeing the work we do to develop and improve our home towns.” Civil & structural engineering Town Planning, Urban design & Resource Consents Surveying Landscape architecture Environmental consultation Project management uav mapping & aerial photography
