The amazing combination also offers the best possible fuel efficiency for any job. AS IT SHOULD BE WITH THE ARRIVAL OF THE MOST POWERFUL COMBINATION IN THE FOREST WOOD IS WORRIED... +10% CUTTING PERFORMANCE SHARP FOR LONGER QUICKER AND EASIER SHARPENING LONGER SERVICE LIFE When Vicki and Hayden Buckman bought a well-established outdoor power equipment store in Greenmeadows, Napier, 8 years ago, they quickly converted it to a fully branded Stihl Shop. “The existing shop was already a Stihl stockist, and converting to a Stihl Shop was just so logical because the brand is so powerful, and very well recognised for its quality equipment,” says Vicki. “When people come to a Stihl Shop they’re not only getting a high-quality product, they’re also getting quality service. We pride ourselves on our service and hope that everyone who walks out the door will come back.” The extensive suite of Stihl products includes chainsaws, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, waterblasters, lawnmowers and Ride-On mowers. “We service all those products too,” says Vicki. “So, you come here for our product knowledge and advice and any servicing needs. We have a team of six, including service technicians, and have a very busy service workshop. It’s all about o ering backup service after you have bought your product. A big thing for us is making sure we’re matching the correct product with the customer’s needs. Customers trust us that we’re providing that advice because we know that particular machine will suit their needs best and do what they need it to do.” Quality product, quality service Stihl Shop Greenmeadows’ customers include forestry, mum and dads with a home garden, lifestylers and farmers. “We have a very diverse customer base, which is a real strength for our business; we’re not solely reliant on one particular market. We have noticed changes in the forestry sector because it’s becoming very mechanised these days, and not so reliant on chainsaws. But forestry remains an important market for us and we’ve adapted our business to provide forestry accessories like harvesting chains. It’s also about providing them with an e icient repair and maintenance service.” Masport and Metro wood ires are also sold and installed by Stihl Shop Greenmeadows. Passionate about the Stihl product and the service provided by the team, Vicki says it is all about going the extra mile for people. “We can provide the knowledge and advice to people. And it is about providing quality customer service, whether that’s in the retail or service area. We’ve built excellent customer relations and work strongly on that.” Being one of eighty locally owned Stihl Shops nationwide, Stihl Shop Greenmeadows is in very good company. Stihl Shop has just been awarded the Consumer New Zealand People’s Choice award, for the 6th year running. DG Glenn Logging’s commitment to training its extensive workforce for a career in forestry was formally recognised at the 2022 Hawke’s Bay Forestry Awards’ Dinner held at the Napier War Memorial Conference Centre, when the company received the Training Company/Contractor of the Year Award. Complementing the company’s success, team member Torben (Turbo) Hunt took home the Tree Faller Excellence award, in recognition of his outstanding efforts in the manual falling of trees. Celebrating the local sector community, the awards’ evening came two and a half years after the inaugural event was held in 2019. DG Glenn Logging Co-Director/Operations Manager Rob Scurr, says the awards provide a valuable opportunity to showcase to the public the training and high skill-level that exists within the industry. “We’re skilled people. It’s a technical industry, and it’s getting more technical each year with the level of mechanisation and automation that is taking place. “Hopefully that will attract people into the industry, and that they can see there is a career to be had in forestry. As a company, the awards provide a great opportunity to recognise the people who work for us, and that they’re working at the top of their game. “The awards recognise that it’s not just the people who own the business, it’s all the people in it.” T T to page 48
