48 | COMMUNITY Tiaho School Primarily funded by the MOE, the rebuilt school will consist of 25 modular block. A new era of education has begun T T from page 47 “However, the good news is, we are back on home ground very soon, to continue teaching our students and welcoming new enrolments to the brand new Tiaho Primary School community.” Previous rebuild plans included a $17 million design, set for completion in 2022. However, the COVID-19 pandemic led to increasing costs, which ultimately resulted in the plan being scrapped. In October 2023, the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced a full demolition of the school, minus the school hall and pool, prompting a rapid relocation effort with temporary classrooms supplied by Modcom Portable Buildings Ltd of Tauranga. Despite setbacks, the rebuild project has been revived with a new approach, spearheaded by experienced school builders, Portacom Building Solutions NZ and overseen by its project manager Bradley Orr. “Portacom Building Solutions and Bradley have been tremendous in getting our new school built. He is known for his expertise in school rebuilds, including Nuhaka School, which was condemned following Cyclone Gabrielle, and he has been instrumental in advancing our project.” Proudly supporting Tiaho School • Commercial • Residential • Educational • Design & Build
